Ex has a job but isn’t paying for his kids
I wondered if someone can help my – sister has 2 kids a 1 age 2 and a half and 1 9 months old, she split from the dad about 2-3 months ago. When they were together she didnt have a bank account so all the money got put into his as he had one, since the split he moved away with his parents but has been taking chld ta credit and child benifit straight out of the bank so that she doesnt get any.
He last see the kids about 7 weeks ago and hasnt come to see the since or to have them. Is there anything she can do, we just found out he has just got a job and is still getting working tax credit so he already has money plus the child money even though he doesnt have or see them.

Firstly she must get a bank account,then ring the child benefit office to get the money put into the new account,the person you talk with can transfer you next to the child tax line(they did this for me when I informed them my 16 year old is going to college).When child benefit is then claimed directly by your sister ,start putting a claim in for CM.If things do become difficult report him to benefit fraud has these benefits are for the PWC only.He should not be taking this money for himself.I dont always say this but I am pretty disgusted that a NRP is getting away with this and I hope your sister gets what money she deserves.
If for some reason your sister can not get a bank account for example no i.d then if she is claiming jsa she could apply for a post office card this is free and the job centre will be more then happy to get her one. So then child tax and cb can also go in that account. Hope she gets this sorted as the n.r.p should in no way be getting anything.
