Employer admits discrimination against people dealing with the CSA
One of the many victims of the Child Support Agency, besides the non-resident parent who has their money taken from them and the parent with care who is treated like a beggar looking for a handout, is the employer. Employers are bullied into enforcing ‘DEOs’, or deduction from earnings orders, by the CSA with the threat of legal action and bailiffs if they do not toe the line.
This begs the question that why would any employer knowingly employ someone who has an attachment of earnings order against them when it will mean countless hours wasted dealing with the incompetent CSA, and dealing with the stresses and hassles of being threatened with bailiffs?
The answer is that many won’t consider it. We received an email recently stating that the following comment was made by an employer in the UK on a forum offering advice about employment. The thread itself wasn’t about the Child Support Agency, but was steered this way (as so many are). The employer commented:
“As an ‘Employer’ one of the questions we now ask potential employees is ‘Have you any involvement with the CSA?’
I don’t care how good their CV is, if the answer is ‘Yes’ we wave them on….
Understandably I refuse to be treated as a criminal again, having had previous dealings with them.
They are a bunch of incompetent public sector jerks…
I feel for those having dealings with them….”
So, if you’re one of the millions of people in the UK who has an attachment of earnings order (sometimes called a deduction from earnings order) against them, you could find it difficult to get a new job. Employers just don’t want the hassle.

Good grief!!!!!
Having being threatened with a DEO and seeing the paperwork they sent to the employer, I am not suprised the employer's feel this way. Just another disgraceful rule the CSA impose and the Government need to change. After all, it will mean the taxpayer paying for yet another person on the dole and that's the Governments remit!!
this is a worrying thought, that employers think like this. But you cant blame them. !!! csa are truly incompetent.
I was asked by my employer if i had kids during my interview, when i said yes, he asked do you pay csa ?, i said yes, his reply i deal with idiots all day so no change- youve got he job start monday 9.00

What is needed is a mass action lawsuit to bring this
worthless institution of the CSA down. Just by repeating again and
again figures with lots of zeros at the end of ‘how many children
it has benefited’ and ‘how much has been collected’ does in no way
guarantee that it is indeed the children that are benefiting
because there is no audit and accounting of how , where and on whom
exactly that money is being spent. It is just another part of the
con industry (apart from the political establishment) that is
called the British legal system and again I can bet you it is the
lawyers who are profiting the most from other peoples
misery.
