Do I have to quit my job just to get by?
I have 3 children by 2 exes, only one wanted to use the CSA, when that was worked out I was paying best part of £250 a month for my daughter, and had a mutual agreement with the other of £240 for my 2 boys.
I contacted the CSA who recommended both exes use their service to bring my payments down to £336 a month.. Both exes are now in relationships with partners who earn decent amounts also claiming what they are entitled to claim. Problem being now I’m not interested in getting in a relationship for the financial reason to reduce my payments but I struggle to get by on my £1000 wages my rent being £550, so inevitably I may have to quit my job as I can no longer sustain getting deeper in to financial difficulty. Can anyone offer advice?
Regards

Being in a relationship wouldn’t reduce your ongoing maintenance, unless you have another child.
With ongoing maintenance nothing can reduce it. It’s only when arrears are involved you can go through the long haul of attempting to reduce the repayment.
Only thing that I think could happen is to see if both your ex’s will come to a private agreement with you again.
Whoooooa. I am sorry to have to inform you that you have just made the biggest mistake of your life! You have involved the hated Child Support Agency in your life, you will soon be a regular contributor here, telling us what the CSA SCUM have done to you, as they can and will take 40% of your income (pre Tax and NI deductions), forget ever having a holiday or decent motor vehicle as they are both now out of your reach, and if things go as I predict, you will soon find the only way you can afford to even stay alive is by leaving your employment and existing off benefits. I am sorry to have to tell you all this, but now that you are a Non Resident Parent, all your rights that were granted to you under the Magna Carta and article 6 of the European Convention for Human Rights will be removed from you by the CSA (illegally I may add) but non the less removed, you are now the lowest of the low, and will be treated as such. The only thing I can suggest is to make yourself at home here in this group, there are some absolutely fantastic people in here who will give you some of the best advice you will ever receive, and more importantly the emotional support you are going to need.

Couldn’t have put it better myself peter all you can do is survive day to day my husband is in the same boat it is very hard for him as we cannot do anything as a family or even help out his older kids now they need it while his ex sits on any money she gets keep smiling xxx
Why is it right that one of my exes her partner pays Csa for one child and has informed them that he now lives with my ex it’s now brought his payments down dramatically where as I still have to pay the same amount is this legal?
Peter can you explain more about the points you highlighted human rights being removed etc..
Im afraid the only way to afford to live is to leave your job, the CSA will claim you owe arrears that are made up ficticous, and the only way to free yourself from them is to either have a private arrangement with the ex or to go on the dole thru stress,
No response from Peter???
Hornbeamfairy…. What’s all that about??
