Difficult situation – should I contact the CSA?

I have two children both girls 17 and 14. Their father and I parted ways in June 2013. Since June he has refused to help towards basic needs for the girls ie food clothing bus fayres for school/college ect. He has taken them out for meals on occasions but has refused my eldest money for a haircut stating he needs his money to decorate his new home.

He is a self employed plasterer was earning £500.00 per week. although that was June 2013. He has demanded that the girls do not disclose his address although i am aware it is in Cleveleys area of Blackpool. I work full time as a nurse and I am trying to get extra hours to meet the needs of the children and household. My mother suggested that i contact CSA for further advice on the correct way to approach this difficult situation. Thankyou

  1. Using the CSA is pretty much a waste of time. he will cover his ass and the CSA cant do much about people who are self employed.

I say the same thing so often. Speak to him. I know you have parted company for what ever reason. the letters CSA will freeze the heart of any man. hence he is withholding his address But they really cant touch him.

At best you may get 30 quid a week if and when they catch up with him. which given the fact that there is no address for him it may take them some time.

  2. I don’t think csa are taking on new cases since November 2013, its now under the new child maintenance services which wants parents to come to their own agreements. Ring child support options which will guide you further.
