They could use an alternative surname and her old surname kept as an alias. Are you on your daughters birth certificate, what year was she born and were you married? Reason I ask because if she was born pre 2003 and you were not married, but on a birth certificate she could deed poll her surname without permission, whether you pay or not. If you were married then no, she can’t do this legally without your permission.
Going through the same thing at the moment. Im on my daughters birth certificate and my ex partner is trying to phase out my surname, I was informed that a school was using the mothers surname without my consent.
Despite the school knowing my childs correct name they still changed all her records, confusing my child. When i tried to speak to them i found out it was in fact the ex partners father that requested the change. I tried to speak with the school but it also appeared she had blocked me getting in contact.
A quick call to the local councils media department and local school services changed this after informing them what they was doing was unlawful..
To be fair the ex done me a favour, my child now has her correct surname back and im now on the parents list and have to now be informed of anything to do with my girl
as for point b, you sounded like my non existent father then. Shouldn’t matter what her name is or who’s bringing her up, she’s still your little girl made by you. She will come and find you in due course. Unless of course you wipe your hands of her.
