Daughter is 19, left school and works for her mother but I am still paying CSA

July 8, 2012

I would like to know when my maintenance comes to an end?

I have received no correspondence from csa on this matter. I am currently on benefits, first applied for on May 24th.

My daughter will be 19 in Nov and has just finished further education at collage studying a nail therapy course.

She has now begun a hairdressing apprenticeship in her mother’s salon.

After leaving school or college, a child still counts as a being in f/t education until the end of a fixed period after they leave, which coincides with the beginning of the next school term (terminal date) OR until their 19th birthday, which ever is soonest.

If a young person does any paid work of 24 hrs or more a week before the terminal date, s/he is no longer counted as a child unless the work is temporary and expected to end before the terminal date.

My stepdaughter is 19 in October and finished college this June just gone,we finish child support after September 3rd when Child Benefit ceases. So if you are a month in arrears you will pay your full payment after this date.Child support ends when Child Benefit does.Your ex cannot get anymore benefit after this date for any reason because your child can claim JSA after this date in her own name.We know this because when the stepdaughter left college we did JSA on line and when she went to the interview with her mother she was told to apply again September 4th when CB finishes.
