CSA would work harder if they were chasing their own money
I first got the CSA involved 6 or 7 years ago when my ex stopped paying maintenance for reasons only he knows! At the same time he decided to change career and become self employed, for the simple reason….he wouldnt have to pay maintenance because the CSA found it more difficult to prove how much he earns. Since then, i have had intermittent payments amounting to approx £400, and his arrears are now above £10,000.
The CSA claim he is difficult to pin down, as he lives in his girlfriends house, is not on the council tax register or electoral roll, and as he also doesnt pay tax, he is ‘untouchable’. In the mean time, i have brought up my two children, working full time and with no support from him at all. I had to give the CSA his bank details, find him on the gas safe register, print the page off that included a photo of him, because they said they ‘werent allowed to google fathers for information, or use taxpayers money on paper to print the page off. Unbelievable.
I have given them so much information myself, bailiffs have been involved, but as he refuses to answer the door, they also become powerless. the case has now been handed back to the CSA, where they are now saying it could take months to get a letter to him warning him they may take away his driving licence.
To stay one step ahead of the CSA, he has now decided to move house, sworn my daughter to secrecy about where he lives, because he truly believes that they will never get him, and to be honest, i’m now believing the same.
Parents should be paid the money they are owed, and the debt be to the CSA, they would probably work a damn sight harder than they do now to get their own money back.

INDPIPENDANT MOTHER…. Re your comment to the story dated 17th July. I hope you’ve read this story. Its because of arseholes like Emma’s ex that people like me are targeted and our lives made hell by the CSA.
This is what I’m afraid of myself, I feel powerless and so angry with the CSA and my sons father. There is no justice for my son at all and there is nothing I can do to get it. It’s true, I bet they would chase up money owed to them far more viciously and with a better outcome. I know that not all men are the, there are fathers that pay or try to. I just wish my sons father was one of those fathers. The CSA needs to change massively the way it works with more power to take action and to focus its attention on the right people.
