CSA staff are just rude on the phone
I will try and sum up the last 3 years of my life I meet a woman. I asked her out and she agreed. That’s when the lies started. It didn’t take me long to work out she was a gold digger, 7 weeks in fact. I ended it with her however, she came back with “i’m pregnant”. Another lie as she told me she was taking precautions. From then on i have been suicidal. I told her it was not what I wanted. At 47 I was to old to start being a Dad again. She just shrugged her shoulders, told me she had done it before and would do it again. She told me she didn’t want me to have anything to do with her or the child and she would go to the CSA to make me pay.
I have since contacted the CSA on numerous occasions to ask for advice and help. They are just downright rude and heartless. I make sure I never swear or raise my voice to them which makes them uncomfortable however, they just tell me they can’t help and i should go to a solicitor.
I have given up trying to see my daughter and now pay 15% of my net income to a stranger. It was another income for her.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way of claiming tax relief or any other way I can get help with paying please?
Then David Cameron comes out and says that absent dads are no better than drink drivers……How dare he……But that’s another story.

I havwe just finished reading the post you have left on here. Sadly, for you there is no tax relief for child support payments. Believe it or not, you are too young to qualify for them. They were scrapped for under 65s several years ago by the last labour government. I am very suprised that a bloke your age wasnt a bit wiser and just took the word of the woman in question when it came to the issue of contraception. Yes sex does feel better without, but its cost you dearly now hasnt it! Anyway, i digress, The damage is done, or is it? How sure are you that the child is actually yours? Have you had a dna test done to prove that the child is actually yours? You have already stated that this woman is a bare faced liar. It will probably be at your cost to get it done. but if it proves you are not the father it will save you a shit load of cash in the long run.
Failing that, the only other advice i can offer you is to either emigrate or become self employed or unemployed if you want to either lower or stop making payments to this woman. Is your name on the childs birth certificate? If you went with her to register the birth ( which you have to actually be there for your name to be entered on the birth certificate) you have equal rights under the law to have access to your child. Even partial or full custody if she hasnt taken out a residency order for the child. Go and see a familly solicitor. Most do free surgeries where you can ask questions. If your ex does have a residency order in place you more than liely will have to go to court to get access. If not, she has no right to deny you seeing your child, that is if, of course the child is yours. Your best hope to end this nitemare is DNA test. If the child is yours, then im sorry to say, you are going to have to pay for the next 16 years at least. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings mate. Hope this advice helps.
I did forget to mention. You can enter into a private agreement with the parents with care of a child these days. Thats only if she would be amenable to this. The newly established Child Maintenance Enforcement Commision (CMEC) which will be replacing the CSA next year would prefer parents to come to an arrangement if possible between you and her. They will offer you both the option at some point. It starts from next year. The other bit of bad news is that also from next year CMEC is looking at altering the maintenece payment formula. Instead of taking 15% of your nett income, they will be looking at taking 12% from your before tax gross income instread. Wether or not this will work out as more or less i cant say for sure. By the way, if you dont mind airing your story on tv you could probably get a free DNA test done on the jeremy Kyle show. Just a suggestion ok!
