Csa Say I owe £25,000 in arrears

I have been paying my ex for 12 years and have proof of payments of £12,800. I would have more but to start with I paid cash (yes silly me!)

The csa wont tell me how they did the breakdown of what I owe as my ex-wife’s word apparently is law to them.

They keep sending letters to an address i moved from 2 years ago and they say it’s my fault for any delay as i don’t respond……

I am at my wits end now as they are stealing 30% of my salery direct from my employer.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

  1. I am just writing a letter along the same lines. The CSA advise that I am in arrears (out of the blue)!!! But I make payments by Direct Debit that they arranged!!!
I have checked the notifications from them & I HAVE actually paid exactly what they wanted (to the penny).
I asked for them to show me where I had underpaid, but the lady simply replied ‘the computer says you do, and the computer will be right’.
I am not a person dodging paying, in fact the only reason for the CSA being involved was that my ‘ex’ did not want to receive money from me directly.
    They are simply Bullies!
    But what can we do?

  2. Find you nearest CSA building and burn it to the ground. lol. Just kidding. I do sympathise with you. They do make you feel that way. Thats why they wont ever do face to face with you. Its easy to bully someone by mail or on your phone bill. Take up your grievance with the complaints dept case officer. See if you get any joy there. Demand to have it dealt with there. There really should be a CSA watchdog body set up. There is sufficent demand for it, yet successsive governments refuse to do it, instaed choosing to demonise all PWC as obligation avoiders. Even those that do pay and want to without hindrance from the CSA.

  3. I had been paying my ex direct, the same as you and even have the letter to prove that the CSA recommend this. However, I received a phone call from a Ms Vicky Toldier, apparently my case worker, who basically called me a liar and that they would never suggest such a thing, but unfortunately I have kept everything from the moment I was first contacted by them 6 years ago. Yes it’s a hell of a file.

Everything got a little legal, as I was getting divorced at the same time, so asked my solicitor to step in to make sure everything went smoothly, and again kept all letters etc that were sent and received.

They have had all of the details and list of payments 99% by direct debit, that amount to around £17000, however they have lost them on 2 occasions, and still call me a liar.

I look forward to the day where it costs the PWC is told to pay for the privilage to claim CSA payments.

  4. Well done Steve! Your case is a classic example of the corruption and collusion that is taking place within the CSA.

I strongly believe that the Serious Fraud Office should raid all CSA buildings seize documents and piece together some cases as ‘sample cases’ or examples of obtaining money by deception.

Arrests should be made an staff and executives jailed!

  5. Hi all, Thanks for your comments.

I have just got off the phone from the CSA and this is Quoting them…

“if Miss Kline (my ex) says the money you paid wasn’t for maintenance then we will believe her”

Why oh Why would i give her any money for anything else.

    Court here I come!!!

  6. Unless you have it in writing the payments were for maintenance you will be laughed out of court so I wouldn’t waste your money going down that route? It happened to friend of mines ex
