  1. How much did they take when you were on benefit – csa can take £5 per week for your regular maintenance, if you were on JSA Contributions Based and have CSA arrears they can apply to take an extra £1 per week towards the arrears.

Did you tell the CSA when you stopped benefit and started working and give them your employer and income details, did you tell them of any tax credits (working tax credits and child tax credits) you are claiming. Have you made any payments to the CSA since your benefit ended?

If you did not tell them they will have traced your employer and tax credit details and done a re-assessment based on wages info supplied by your employer and tax credit info gathered form the system. The assessment will be effective back to when your benefit claim ended so there will be arrears accrued since then.

  2. Christopher,

    How have the arrears accrued?

Did you inform the CSA when you initially claimed benefits?
