CSA just doesn’t listen to the facts
My husband has been paying his csa and in april 2010,the case was closed and we were told everything was paid off,then apparently he had arrears.We asked for statements,on looking at these it looked like he had arrears of £558 not £1800 or £1900,the figure changes with each letter.The statement also says there was an error and £352 was to be deducted leaving £210 arrears roughly.
We wrote with these details and photocopies were sent detailing this and asking for assistance to clarify the situation,this was in Feb.2012.We heard nothing back until this week when my husbands wages were arrested,leaving us with not enough money to pay our other bills or our nursery fees.
My husband phoned and gets no help just sarcasm. This is causing my husband stress and anxiety and he feels there is no point in him working for no pay. Better yet a new claim was made in Nov.2010 by his ex-wife,we questioned this and were told his son was in full-time education so he had a responsibility to pay again,his son was not at college,this was a fraudulent claim,we asked them to phone the college he was supposed to be at and get clarification,that would have been all it would have taken but no they are not interested,meanwhile arrears build up on a new claim which is unjust and we refuse to pay,although nearly £800 has been taken from his wages.
My husband is well awareof his responsibilities,his boys are 18 & 21 and if they need anything he will provide. This is ridiculous and i am genuinely concerned for my husbands health,These people should listen and try and help when the facts are in black and white.
They have threatened him with jail and taking his licence off him for 2 years,we have had sheriff officers at the door on 2 occasions but we will not be bullied into paying when this is wrong,someone needs to make them listen and we want compensated for all the anxiety and he is now losing wages cause he can’t go to work,we will have bank charges for unpaid direct debits.
The csa is totally incompetent.

As you will see the CSA are incompetent and do whatever to get money in!
I take it they are deducting ongoing maintenance now aswell together with arrears?
If I was you I would get your MP involved. We tried doing things with the CSA and awaited answers before making payment and as what has happened to you a DEO was put in place and no questions ever answered. We have been fighting them for a year now over alleged inflated arrears and basically total incompetence on their file but thanks to our MP are now getting answers and a meeting soon with a Senior Manager to get it sorted out once and for all hopefully.
The key to the CSa taking money for a student at college is whether child benefit is in place so if your husband’s ex is claiming this the CSA will continue with maintenance. There could be a case here for benefit fraud as tax credits could also be getting claimed.
We had the same issue, first step is phone the child benefit fraud helpline, they will find out if the child is in full-time education on an appointed course set out in order for child benefit to be paid….in our case glad we didn’t take it and it saved us 4000.00 for that year, but csa didn’t take to that kindly, so decided to have my husband on arrears from 15 years ago on a case he knew nothing about, nearly a year down the line and still no nearer to resolution, and that’s in the hands of our mp!!! never ring them, email or send letters and go see your mp asap. Also see if the college where the child is attending might be able to help, if you explain the situation…some pwcs are committing so much benefit fraud, yet nrps and second families treated like criminals and scum for standing up to the shower of shite! If you see your M.P. ask him/her to refer your case to the Parliamentary Ombudsman regarding serious and prolonged administration. I would also make a formal complaint to your M.P. about the staff. If you have names insist that those who have ridiculed you are subject of disciplinary measures or write directly to the CSA Chief exec and name them with your complaint!
As Jay says, this lot are a shower of shite!
