CSA have disclosed my full financial income to the other parent
September 11, 2019
Hello, I’m a paying parent in full time employment.
It seems that the csa have disclosed my full financial income to the other parent. Is this not a breach of privacy or private information? I would never of consented to this information being shared and feel totally exploited now. Also the whole thing is ruining the relationship with my step son as the csa system totally disregards him and everything I’ve done and continue to do for both the kids, not just my biological one.

They should have formally requested this information from you via the court system. And you are correct in your assumption that they have breached Data Protection laws on several counts in doing so. Most pertinently GDPR. However, that doesn’t help you now they’ve already done it. You have very little recourse, but I suggest you start by creating a complaint via the ICO website, and asking the CSA for the details of the Data Protection Officer so you can lodge an official complaint with them too. I’ve been where you are, but I was self-employed and refused to break the law to comply with their request.
Hi
Your complaint:
Hello, I’m a paying parent in full time employment.
It seems that the csa have disclosed my full financial income to the other parent. Is this not a breach of privacy or private information? I would never of consented to this information being shared and feel totally exploited now. Also the whole thing is ruining the relationship with my step son as the csa system totally disregards him and everything I’ve done and continue to do for both the kids, not just my biological one.
The CSA/CMS must comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and so personal information should not be divulged to third parties without your express permission. They can certainly used your income details to work out your child maintenance liability and inform your ex-partner how much she is entitled to.
I would need more information about you and your step son to advice on that. You may wish to contact me at [email protected] or call me on 0754 0062 567.
First of all don’t waste your cash on David joseph he’s a fake. And secondly the Cms do not disclose your annual income. But they must under law disclose to the RP your gross weekly so the RP can see what the calc is based on. From there it doesn’t take a genius to work out your income pa.
I disagree the cms disclosed my whole income obtained via paye line by line for a csa tribunal so i am perplexed as to how they have done this and what recourse i have?
Hi guy’s, I have just had this very same problem with the CMS. I have written a formal letter of complaint and I’m lobbying my local MP to assist me in getting this sorted out. When I spoke to the CMS they told me it was in case someone disclosed my salary had increased by 25% which is a tenuous explanation at best. Absolute disgrace of an organisation, discourteous, disrespectful and completely bias in favour of the claimant.
