CSA demand arrears for when I was NOT working

Hi everyone, I’ve read the forum and it’s good to know I’m not alone.

I’m an old stager, been fighting the CSA almost since its inception. My youngest (of 3) was 16 last week, but staying at school till Easter so still on the books till then.

I was made redundant last April. Wrote to the CSA and told them. Wouldn’t have bothered except my union rep advised me to. Didn’t send recorded, didn’t think it that important. CSA knew my DEO wasn’t paying any more and would also know I’d signed on.

Never got acknowledgement or reply. Not unusual.

Got a new job in September. CSA on my back in 5 minutes demanding arrears back to April. No trace of my letter so pay up 100 a week for when you were on 65 a week plonk.

They ring you up on a Friday afternoon and say like give us five grand by eight o’clock or we’re sticking you with a DEO. makes no difference what you say, it’s one or the other by eight o’clock, believe me.

I got my MP on the case, and for the first time in 15 years got a personal letter from CSA signed by hand by someone who might ve persuaded to do something.

This is a government agency doing government work. Your parliamentary representative should know how the system is working.

  1. hi John,

Your situation is not uncommon. Indeed in the forum at http://www.afairercsaforall.co.uk have others that have been in a similar position.

CMEC is a new body, although the same staff in the same buildings will carry out essentially the same work — or at least with the same aim.

The Commission is not directly part of government and they have an arm’s-length relationship with Ministers.

ALL parents, non resident and resident, who are dissatisfied with agency need to have their voices heard.
Our petition http://afairercsaforall.co.uk/petition/ is still open for signatures and we are in the process of organising a protest date.

Our group is one of the faster growing CSA/CMEC help, advice and support groups. Created and run by parents for parents – Its freely available to ALL.
