CSA can’t even add up when it’s in front of them
This latest story from the CSA is another classic example of incompetance. MrDaz spoke to them about his DEO, where they’ve been deducting money for arrears, and asked them to explain why they were still deducting money from him when their previous statement said it would change in November 2008.
The woman’s reaction is priceless (as you can listen to the phonecall on the website) as she explains how he’d been paying £58.75 in arrears per week for 23 weeks, making a total of £900 paid off. Of course, £58.75 x 23 weeks doesn’t make £900, it’s £1,351.25.
So dispite having the amount paid on the computer in front of her, and the number of weeks it has been paid, the numbers are still made up by them.
They lie, they cheat and they steal. Listen to them admit it here.

Where will I begin on this topic, well I guess a good start is to anounce that I work for the Child Support Agency. I know this is probably in deletion folder now, but wait just one minute and read on.
I have read alot of your articles and especially agree with the CSA Mistakes page, because its true. Naming and shaming does not help though, I hate my job, nothing worse than sitting up to 10 hours a day trying to fix the un fixable. I work in the client service area of the agency and I would consider this to be the worst area to be in. this is where the majority of non resident parents are held and they are the ones who usually pay the money but still get treated badly. A DEO in the client service area must be enforced at 40% of your income for any arrears, unless the NRP can pay a substantial contribution to your arrears to show that you are dedicated to paying them off. Try that for an ice breaker as if introducing yourself as so and so from the CSA is not enough.
I blame the thousands of mistakes on the enormous work load we have to deal ‘with. What everyone has to remember both PWCs and NRP’s is that you are not are clients the children are, and you would probably find that the first assessment if it ever gets made it usually the most fair. However our work does not stop there, because then appeals and re-assessment are requested by money grabbing PWC’s who just dont know when they have it good, this then leads to further appeals and re-assessments by disgruntled NRP’s who by now are already behind on payments due to time taken to complete two assessments, it is a never ending cycle of money grabbing moaning and torture. I completed a case two nights ago, where a PWC called in and requested over 10k arrears to be adjusted and their case to go Maintenance Direct as I quote, “We have come to a private agreement, where he will pay £150 per month, which is a lot less than what you have told him to pay” Over £200 less ” but atleast something is better than nothing. Now be nice to your ex lovers and partners and come to a suitable agreement with one another it will be easier, and despite what you may be thinking the csa can not enforce missed payments from a period of maintenance direct between two parties so you do not need to keep receipts. Just tell us thats what you are doing. Any way the Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission has taken over now, and the work load is gradually going to get better for us, which will hopefully mean a little more time and care taken on your cases to come to a decision more quickly and less painful for both parties involved. How will they do this, by stopping re-assessments, any change which does not breach 25% change of previous calculation will not be taken into consideration.
Until then though speak to each other.
I am a man by the way.
Well thanks for informing us of all this however, we are not not going to be so optimistic, as you stated ” Any way the Child Maintenance Enforcement Commission has taken over now, and the work load is gradually going to get better for us,” yes it will get better and easier for the CMEC as they will now have a big collection of Driving licenses and Passports in the bottom of their lift shaft as well as all the disregarded post because CMEC can now remove licenses in house without going to court, yes the system will be easier for you but for the poor NRP he is powerless to do anything about it because the Governemnt has decided to breach our Human and Constitutional rights.
Purnell and co stated they are doing this as a scare tactic? who are they to now become scaremongers we ask ourselves? Your workload will get easier because when every NRP the CMEC have stung and removed driving licenses, passports and commited the others to prison, you will find you will have no money coming in at all, so what will the disgruntled PWC do now? what will CMEC do now when no money is coming to reduce child poverty 2010, they will probably target the PWC and take money from them for having children in the first place.
We hold no sympathy for any CSA/CMEC worker, the amount of recordings coming in to us now from various fathers who have recorded staff from various offices, their attitude stinks, the lies they come out with, the stunts they pull, the intimidation tactics stinks so sorry if the workload is unbearable you have a union to go to, make them work, make them get off their backsides and do something about the crap system, stand up and be counted.
We hope they do bring in the name and shame of those parents who won’t pay, we will name and shame CMEC stafff who lie, who use fraud and deception to collect money, people in glass houses should never throw stones.
hear hear nice reply deadbeaddads the system stinks especially the way i have been treated and bullied by certain csa dedt collection staff and intimidated to say the least, if your workload is heavy get out off the job then, and think of all the nrps that are under real pressure from the many phone calls that the csa staff give out. the deception the lies i have made 2 recordings off conversations between me and the csa staff and they just wont listen at all they are set in wht they have been told to do and say and stuff the people who are prepared to pay, so now my second family is going to be affected by second family poverty
As another member of the CSA “workforce” I think you should all bear in mind all the problems could be averted if couples just grew up and worked out the financial issues between themselves!! I work in the complaints department and yes, we are all insanely busy but we are also people too, some of the abuse and attitude we received from both PWC’s and NRP’s is uncalled for. We understand you are going through one of the most difficult times in your lives but if you are calm and reasonable with us then we will treat you with the respect you deserve. If you shout and swear at us then you will get nowhere.
