CSA are a waste of time and effort

For 7 years I have tried to make the father of my children stand up to his responsibilities through the CSA and every time the CSA welcome his change of circumstances or resignation from jobs and cut my children off!! Attachment of earnings orders have been put in place and removed without reason, I am promised payments that never materialise and the man continues to get away with not paying for his children’s up keep!! I have had only 2 half decent payments in 7 years and no explanation as to why!

I am sick of the false promises and lies spoken by the CSA and wonder what the hell they do all day, as they certainly havn’t helped me at all in the 7years I’ve been asking for it! I have found the whole experience a complete and utter joke and am furious that yet again my ex is allowed to get away with providing for his children and I havn’t a clue where my claim is up to and nor does any of your staff! No body contacts me even though it’s always promised and I have had no correspondence from the CSA in all this time, instead I have to write letters of complaint and make pointless phone calls to no avail!!! Child support agency????

You have not once supported my children only their irrisponsible father it seems!! What an absolute waste of my own time and effort and what and absolute joke this so called service is!!

  1. Reading your story jennifer made me realise im not the o
nly one having problems with the csa! mine has been ongoing since 2009 which i thought was bad enough, but the exact same thing, as just as they sort the deduction of earning out, there always seems to be a change of circumstances which thentakes another 90 days to sort out. its all one big joke! when they know how to work the system.i am still waiting for a payment and my daughters dad only has her so you would think he would want to pay!

  2. Hi Jennifer,
Im completely with you there, the NRP seem to know how to work the system, when you try expining to the advisor (if thats what you want to call them) that this is happening frequently they are just plain not interested, even though they are the ones that confirm with you that the NRP has been non-compliant for many years.
Much like everyone else i dont want the earth but i want the NRP just to have some kind of financial responsiblity towards THEIR child, not much to ask you would think!!!!!
I have read alot from the responsible parents on here and them being taken advantage of and i really do feel for them, the agency is as i have said before preying on people that they know are easy targets, and allowing the other ones to just laugh and play the system ALL THE TIME!!!!!! (as in my case and obviously many many others).

  3. Michelle is right, the CSA likes an easy target: employed, regular wage, correct contact details, a law abiding co-operative NRP. As a NRP i was dealt with and my employer written to within 48 hours of my ex informing the CSA. In the 4 year years previous to this I had paid in excess of the required CSA amount (£550 pm) each month never a day late. My ex left the country without my knowing her whereabouts and knew my overnight stays would drop to zero (from 104+) and my payment would go up (to £650).

Now my case is ‘all sorted’ the CSA is not interested, because of the jurisdiction issues it is complex and they can’t handle it, not even the managers know what to do about it, I am now in the same position as you. You need to harrass them, get a name and an extension number and push and push them. The CSA must dread me calling, I typically stay on the phone for an hour demanding detail and action and then I chase them. I still haven’t got it sorted it out but I won’t rest until they deal with my case and do what is fair (and correct under their rules). You must do the same, don’t let them off the hook. Good luck.
