CSA accused me of being a liar
Having become self employed and informing the CSA of this. They asked for a figure of the first 3months of trading.
Which I gave them, in total £1240.00. Now they have basically called me a liar and accused me of cooking my books to avoid paying them. I have now been asked to send my account books to them. I have refused to do so, on the grounds of. I am a sole trader and the only people I have to supply my accounts to are Customs & Revenue, law courts upon them requesting these.
This is the 4th time I have been accused of being a liar by them, Im getting annoyed now of the one sidedness course the CSA seem to be taking.
It’s now getting g to the point where I may start to look at registraing myself self in a non eu country, just to make it hard and make the CSA work even harder for them to be able to turn over another father.

Patrick,
If you refuse OR are unable to supply the agency with the info they request and they are unable to make a proper assessment, they may apply a default rate of £30 for 1 child, £40 for 2, £50 for 3 + children pw.
Once your in a position to submit your tax return for the period of self employment the CSA will revised such to reflect your earnings.

I would give them the information, your probably right in principle about whether they should have access but in reality is it really worth the hassle. If your really bothered about privacy then you need to set up an offshore company and run your business through that as they *really* would have no access to that.
Cant you get an accountant to send copies of they info they need? A tax return that the tax office has accepted should also be accepted by the csa.
