Costing me a small fortune to keep in touch with CSA

I have two children that I see once a month due to finances and that it costs me £100 every weekend I see them, I recenty started work and informed the CSA immediately,, 4 months later I still await a decision!!! This cannot be acceptable can it?

I was however getting used to being on hold to which ever CSA Department that I phoned for exactly 10minsand 43 secs each time. This is costing me a small fortune for trying to do the right thing!! Today I telephoned again, was placed on hold and low and behold I had to ring yet another number after 20mins on the phone, So I called the alternate number and held for a further 10mins and 43secs!! got throughto a woman that informed me that she was looking at my notes and could I hold yet again!!! another 3 minutes passed and I was reconnected. I asked the woman if she had a calculated figure of what I was to be paying, She informed me that it was £46 per week.

I could have told the CSA that after 2 mintes of inputting my details on there wonderful little calcultor. I submitted a variation form at the time of returning my assessment documents but that seems to achieve the sqare root of a nats bottom!! I pay to see my children andit aint cheap!!

I have the benefit of having them every other weekend but due to the CSA MISCALCULATION System my children will suffer throgh their ignorance to peoples situaions. I will be progressing with this matter in due course to the courts if it is not rectified within the next seven DAYS!!!! Not weeks!!!!!

People deserve to be able to live and indeed have access to their children without the continual money worries that are always placed upon the parent that has to do all the travelling whilst the other parent that sits at home on their backside gains everyhing, Makes you wonder why people actually work!!!!

I have no objection to paying money to my children if it is a fair amount,, The CSA Have just increased my weekend with the childrens costs to over three hundred pounds, given the curent economy and the way that we all have to live nowadays thereshould be some form of fairness and justificaion of the amount of money that the non resident parent needs to pay regardless of the inabilities of the staff at the CSA, I could train a monkey to use the online calculator and still have the figure that the CSA Claim that I need to pay long before they climb out of their staff room to finally assist people that want to sort things out.

    I agree, 4+ months to carry out a Change of Circumstance/Variation is not acceptable. Delays people experience with the agency are a major issue.

    The agency should carry out it’s duties in a timely manner. However, they have no duty of care.

    Have you escalated your case to an official complaint?

  2. chall – do you know when the new paid for system comes in whether there will then be a duty of care?

    Simon – yes the CSA do not take into account that as an nrp you still have to live. The destruction the Agency cause with their number crunching is shocking. Write a formal letter of complaint to see if that can help you. It might also be worth your while having your MP involved to see if matters can be sorted out for you quicker.

    Is there maybe the option that you can come to a private agreement with your ex?

  3. I’ve question this myself Carol.

    Obviously if the agency are accepting payment for their services, a contract is formed and therefore a duty of care could reasonably be expected ~ especially as the state prevents a child support claim through the ordinary Court system. It should have an obligation to provide an effective alternative system.
