Child Support Agency collections above £1.4 million for 2010

February 28, 2011

Statics recently released by the Child Support Agency show that its enforcement procedures have been continuing to increase its performance – a trend that has been kept up since 2006.

In 2010, over 1.4 million was collected by the CSA from parents who otherwise would not have contributed to child maintenance payments. This is an improvement over the previous year, where 1.135 million was collected by the agency.

In addition to this, just under 700 properties owned by parents who owed child maintenance payments have been targeted by the Child Support Agency. Although only around 100 properties have been given orders to be sold, these measures have proven effective in collecting money.

One of the newest powers the CSA has is to carry out what is known as a deduction order. This involves money being forcibly taken out of bank accounts, and a lot of the total collected has come about in this way.

Another power the agency has more recently been able to enforce is the power to get maintenance payment from assets of a parent who has deceased. This may be through money the parent had in their bank account, or through sale of their property.

It is estimated that since the agency gained more powers, 50% more children are feeling the benefits of the service. Although not all parents need to be targeted with enforcement measures, it can be a problem in some cases where there are particular tensions between parents, so it seems these measures go a long way to helping give children more stability.

£1.4m collected by an organisation that costs £500m to administer..the misery caused, the 100 or so people likely to lose their homes for this paltry amount defies belief.

This is bordering on aggresive tactics by the state that in my view provoke equal hostility towards those in power – the above post causes me to see red but I must remind myself that eventually this monstrous organisation that destroys relationships between children and parents will one day end and those politicians who support this will have their careers ended and perhaps they will have to get a real job that truly does have service and public in the job title.

How is it this is allowed to continue?

Pulleeeese.. stop spewing such garbage spin, bullsh*** and garbage – destroying a persons life for the sake of the children???? when will our out of touch politicians wake up – it’s a worry.

Well said! Driving wedges between parents and children in an attempt to recoup tax credits paid is a damn right disgrace!

This article displays what the CSA is all about. Performance and targets and not children and parents.

Chasing down and criminalisiing decent people on the basis of replenishing the government coifffeurs, which is based upon a fantasy system of tax credits, where money is spewed out at people, in an uncontrolled way, where mistake after mistake is made plunging families into debt because they have been over paid tax credits, and then are threatened with court if they do not repay!

How long do we have to put up with theses out of control oafs, who still have not collected £3.5 billion, because they are toooooooo busy hounding those who do pay!

The CSA has just issued a charge against my property, I only found this out because the joint owner received a letter advising them of this. As far as i was aware i had a private agreement with the ex. When we first seperated I gave her my car worth 6500, agreed to pay off her loan of 3,500 & let her have all the furniture in the house to set up home with her new boyfriend. I was also giving her £950 a month for almost 2 years until she saw her backside after i complained that my childs clothes & shoes were full of holes! She was using my childs money on bingo & nights out with her boyfriend, my child also told a member of my family that he had found a brown oxo cube in the mothers & boyfriends bedroom.

So it was then agreed that i pay for school lunches, uniform, ‘school trips as & when’ & clothes when asked for. Which i have done.

Now this after all this time. She’s laughin in my face & rubbin her hands. My child is now working & doing well. I don’t know if our past agreement will stand, the csa seem to do what they like regardless! I don’t know how, after 10 years they can do this. Stressed is an understatement.

Dan sorry to read your story but believe me they will take your home.

Some weeks back they also did the same to my ex Partner and now has to sell it to pay this so called fabricated debt they say he owes.

He will be homeless soon and like you say not to mention the stress as it has changed him so much.

Nothing will stop their charging order

I am upto £107,000 in divorce payments and child maintenance. How can this be proportionate and fair?

My ex has all ready been caught out over claiming £7,000 in tax credits. She has had £70,000 in inheritances since divorce……….and yet I am still getting screw-d for maintenance.

There is an anomaly in CSA stats. They say that they have collected more than ever…………..and yet the amount owing by parents is £3.75 billion, up from £3.5 billion.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as usual they can’t add up!

    Their days are numbered!

I’m pretty sure that in a video link on the homepage it was quoted that the csa were costing £200,000,000pa to run.

How many families did they force into poverty and were made homeless because of the CSA to achieve this? It costs far more to run the CSA than they collect to top it all the staff commit fraud to ensure collection. One day CSA staff will have to face the music for what they have done as will the politicians who support this corrupt quango.

Funny how the CSA only announce what they see to be positive and they will always paint a bad picture of the NRP so people think all NRP’s are bad – has anyone else noticed the media blackout which the CSA deny having in place?

This last point is interesting, so who is targetted, working parents who dont pay and try and avoid liability? NO, it seems that if you have any funds/property you are a target, even the dead are not left to rest in peace.

In my case a deo was applied with no warning, I’d only been in work 6mts having previously been a PWC, deductions rose each week to a point where I was better off out of work so I gave up my job. The csa were made aware of this and had documentry evidence to support my position BUT I had a house so they put charges against my home, currently bequeathed to all of my children, so it seems they will come after you if you have savings or property whether you owe the money or not. Meantime there is growing evidence that he money is either delayed or just not passed on so where is it going? My own view is the csa is just a big tax colecting scam on behalf of a ‘banckrupt’ government.

Got something to say?
