What is your son doing now? Is he at college in full time non advanced education where his mother will still be claiming child benefit?
My son leaves school July 29th,i have rang the child benefit office so I can continue the CB from September 3rd because he is going to college. My stepdaughter who is 19 this October has also left college ,but cannot claim JSA because her mother is claiming CB till September 3rd.If your son left school last July 2011 ,then he must either be going to college or has signed on with Connections .When I rang the Child Benefit Office they asked me questions about my sons course and then said they were going to check if I could claim for him till Sept 4th 2013.They told me that I would have to reapply next year if he did another year at college. Child benefit can continue till the 1st Monday in Sepetember before the childs 19th birthday.
Sorry,i meant June 29th finishing school this year .
for your ex ti claim cb then toy r son must be in fulltime education. surely you cant deny him the money as the csa is for him and not your ex
