Can the CSA find my ex and get money from him?
Dear officer in charge
My self and my husband went our seperate ways since June 2012, and I have been soley reponsible for the day to day up keep of our 3 boys. I have on countless ocassions asked him for maintenance but he has refused to give a penny.
He asked for my bank details which i couldnt release because i cant trust him enough to give them to him ,i suggested he pay the money by money transfer but he has refused this is now the 6th month and i have recieved no help ,all i have is his work address. I dont know where he lives as he didnt tell us where he was moving to i would appreciate it if CSA Could contact him, collect the money on my behalf and pay into my account i look forward to hearing from you thanks.

I’m a bit confused as to why have you addressed this to “Dear officer in charge”. You realise this is not an official CSA website, it would be a kind of unusual approach to naming a government department website “Department Hell” but in this particular case wholly appropriate.
If you have their work address then this is definitely what the the CSA do. You don’t need their home address and you don’t need to do anything more than open a case. The issues with the CSA come up for the PWC ( you ) when the NRP ( your ex ) is self employed, works cash in hand, doesn’t work or lives abroad otherwise if you have their current employer even if they quit their job whereever they move to next there will be a paper trail. The other thing is to just google their name and you’ll either get their linkedin page for their current job and often there are sites listing people’s home address but as I say this shouldn’t be required.
The link below is the official “non hell” based CSA website and tells you which number to call but there is a national number also 08457 133 133.

Good Luck.
Agree with above but also dont call 0845 nos – esp from a mobile – go to website – saynoto0870no as it will give you an alternative number which is cheaper.
Also do you have his NI no. as that can help trace him too. Any info you can think of i.e. car reg. parents address, etc.
The Criminal Compliance can check with credit ref agencies for bank accounts etc., but you do need to give them as much info as pos first for them to get a link.

Good luck.
0845 number is not a premium rate number – it’s lo-call so costs the same as calling within your own area code – obviously not from a mobile.
If you contact the CSA to open a case they will ask for as much detail on your ex as you are able to give – his full name, DOB, NI No if you have it, his address would be useful but if you are unable to provide that they can always send letters to his workplace (sealed with a covering letter to his employer instructing them to hand these on to him – the employer is asked to confirm that this has been done)
The fact that you know his place of work is helpful in obtaining his income details.
