Can the CSA come after me when my child turns 18?
I have been paying the mother of my child CM on a monthly basis every month since my daughter was born 13 years ago. I have not missed one payment which amounts to 15% of what I have received from my employer into my bank. However over this period the csa has contacted me on various occasions with phone calls and various threatening letters.
The last time was in 2007 when they said that the reason I had received a letter was because of a COMPUTER ERROR on their end!!!! I am a very chilled individual but I have never felt rage like I did that day in my life. I demanded to speak to a superior member of staff who I told to write me a letter saying that they would no longer contact me as I have a private arrangement with my daughters mother. I had little faith that this letter would materialise but sure enough, 3 months down the line, it did and the relief was almost euphoric!
I have so many questions about what the csa can do but the main one I pray someone can help me with is – can they come after me after my child is 18 and if they can what steps can I take to avoid them?

Not sure what you are trying to say. Do you pay through the csa or direct to your ex (Direct pay) Are the csa involved ie do they send you letters saying how much you should pay.. If the csa tell you how much but you pay direct to your ex this is classed as direct pay and the csa are involved in your case. If this is so the age you have to pay maintenance up to is now 20.. Yes the csa hasn’t had the decency to inform all the PWC.. UNLESS your child starts full time employment or claims any unemployment benefit.. With the school leaving age being changed it has had a knock on affect.. WE NOW HAVE TO PAY ASA…. ADULT SUPPORT,, FKIN RIDICULOUS…
This appears to be an increasingly common question on here; does the NRP continue pay the CSA once their child has past their 18th birthday?
Maybe a section should be created to answer this question with links.
I managed to get the csa to drop the case for now and the arrangement for CM is completely between me and my ex. So with this in mind can the csa come after me for arrears not payed to them for example after my daughter is 18 or now 20!!!!!!!! (Cant believe that) The reason I ask is that I have heard of a case where they came after a father when his daughter was in her 20s, but I don’t think he payed anything during her childhood years. If I have privately – will I be alright and what steps can I take to avoid them for good?
