If you havent seen the chikd for 3 years then yes. She doesnt need your consent to do it either if you have not seen the child. It doesnt make amy difference if you pay maintenance. She cant change the childs name on the passport though. The child can change its name on the passport when they turn 16
If you are on the birth certificate and have parental responsibility then NO she can’t. Have a look on line at Families need Fathers and Mckenzie friends. They have helped my other half out no end 🙂
Firstly are you named on the birth certificate?, if your not then there’s nothing you can do about it. Also as there’s been no contact for four years it might mean that she can legally .make choices without your permission unfortunately :(. Join a group called child support agency rip offs and they will give you more advice, they know their stuff. Hope it helps
No. Legally, if you have pr she can not. Although unfortunately these people do! It makes no difference when you last saw the child.
Also can I just say have you fought to see your child in the last 4 years because if not he deserves better!!
A child’s legal name can easily be changed by Deed Poll providing everyone with parental responsibility (PR) for the child consents to the name change. If your child is 16 years of age or over (or approaching their 16th birthday), they must apply for their own Deed Poll for which parental consent is not required.
Parental responsibility is a legal term and this article will enable you to understand the meaning of parental responsibility and determine who has parental responsibility for your child and who needs to consent to your child’s name change. For quick access, we have listed this article’s contents below. However, we urge you to read the whole article for a full understanding of the issues relating to changing a child’s name. You will also find information in this article about the situations where you may be able to change your child’s name without the consent of the father.

My hubby has not seen his son for longer than 4 years and he hasn’t forgot it was his son’s choice and no fault of my husbands what so ever we went to court and spent thousands of pounds trying to get every other weekend and shared holidays but got absolutely no further forward his mam totally poisoned him against his dad and his dads family I strongly believe a child needs a father so its very possible its not his fault he hasn’t seen his child
