Can I stop paying the CSA as child has left education?

I have been paying child maintance since my son was six & next week he turns 19, & because he failed his first year at college he has only just passed his stage 1 of electrical fitting & has had to sign on for another year which I believe has been paid for by his mother

Can you please advise if I am within my rights to stop the maintance payments as when i got divorced I signed until he left full time eductation.

  1. Child Benefit for your son will now continue till easter next year 2013 if he is still in college..If he had finished his college course June 2012 (has my stepdaughter as)then you would have finished paying CS 3rd of September 2012 and he would go onto JSA or into work.My stepdaughter couldnt claim JSA while her mother was still intitled to the child benefit. She has been to the job center and was told to make a claim on September 4th.You state that his mother has paid for the course (thats because he is only allowed free education upto the age of 19 years.Ring tthe child benefit office for advice but going on what you say I should think you will be with the CSA till next year.If he does drop out of the course then CS will stop.
