A way out from the CSA

We have argued with the CSA for the past 2 years because since my hubby split with his poisonous ex in 2007 he has paid her direct as they had a verbal private agreement. Always in cash as she said she had no bank account. CSA wanted thousands in arrears and our argument has always been we would not pay this money again and how can they take her word over ours?
A very nice chap at the CSA told me they were hearing that more and more and if we gathered evidence against her for other things she has told them ie: she said he left when she was pregnant and he has never seen his child then they may reconsider her character. So we have packed off photos of my hubby and her and the child together, photos of the child at my house with my children, we’ve included sworn statements from members of the family who saw us hand over money to her and who also had a relationship with the child and lo and behold they have called for a tribunal (date to be arranged in the next 14 weeks!) to reassess, and I quote “accusations of the PWC’s inability to tell the truth or prove otherwise”.
You see, we can’t prove she’s had money but we can prove she’s a liar and yet she can’t prove my hubby is as we’ve been completely honest from the very beginning. For the record, I did get my MP involved only for her to look completely stupid when she made a complaint about them taking my child tax credits as hubby’s income and they replied, “it was your government who brought the law in to allow the CSA to do that!” Dur…. Fingers crossed…

  1. I can and so do the CSA have proof that my ex (NRP) is a liar and he has abused the system and let mine (and his) children suffer financially. Both my children have nothing to do with him, their choice. In fact they are embarrassed he is their father as he has had 2 more children (dif. woman) one not much older than our daughter and both he was only with for a short period of time. He pays the CSA for one and the other he doesnt.

The CSA say they need proof but when you or they get it, they dont want to do anything with it!

We are all suffering due to the incompetencies of the CSA, the System and our Ex’s (regardless of sex or if PWC or NRP) but unless we stand up and try and do something about it, we will all continue to suffer but more importantly, our children will continue to suffer.

  2. Hi Elizabeth,

Your Hubby’s case is certainly not an isolated one 🙁

Was your hubby’s ex a private client or claiming benefits during this period?

Please feel free to join us in the forum at http://www.afairercsaforall.co.uk we have other members who have been / are going through a Tribunal, who could maybe assist you.

  3. Hi Chall – She always has and always will be on benefits. She’s a useless member of society who never has and never will get a job even though her only child is at school full time now. The CSA even told me they don’t bother chasing people unless the PWC is on benefits as it’s not worth their while. Out of the weekly amount they expect me (not my husband as he isn’t working at the moment – building trade is rubbish) to pay she will only get £20 added to her income support. The rest goes into their pot. Now in order to do that I would lose my home. My babies will lose their home. How is that fair? I don’t begrudge paying for his child, after all I knew about him when we married, but I won’t support some lazy b***h who refuses to provide for her own child while mine lose out. Thankfully my babies are too little to know any of this is going on and they will never feel like they are the ones suffering as I’d starve myself and sell our belongings before they notice a difference in their lives. CSA needs a huge overhaul. I know it’s there for a reason but who decides one child has to suffer in order for another to have a life? Why is his first child more important than his next three?
