16 years of hell with the CSA
My ex left me with 2 children 8-10, a new baby and a bankrupcy. I fought and managed to pay off his debts and keep the house. Throughout the 16 years he has been gone he has lied, diverted income, paid not paid and generally been a miserable father. He was once earning £45000 per year but declaring £16000. I told the CSA and they askeed to prove it with wage slips? How? He did not pay once for 6 months because “his USA holiday was more expensive then he thought” and all the CSA did was put in in the arrears.
Finally when it got to over £8000 I asked for a departure to prove he lived beyond his his life style. The CSA asked me for proof of his household expenses-how do I know, we are divorced. He opened a new business and so I told the CSA that his circumstances have changed, they said they have no notification he had left his old job and he has not informed them he has changed address and now co-habitates. I said, “but I am telling you now so you can write to him and ask him to confirm or deny and their response was-“yes but you can lie!”.
So here I am No money for 6 months, £7000 arrears, and having to find PROOF from 200 miles away.He lives in a 4 bedroom town house in a marina, own business, foreign holidays and declares his income is zero. And guess what, the CSA belief that!!!!!!!

The same is happening to us, my advice stop ringing them as its of no cost to them, write a letter of complaint via recorded delivery given them a date to get back to or you will take it further, also email complaints and email your local mp, this might shake them up a a bit. They are stalling to mount up arrears to get a deo on you, avoid this at every cost, also try and pay something and keep some back so they can’t sting you for arrears, as they can’t put you as non-compliant if they threaten you with court. And like us, no manager will ever call.
Sorry I left a comment meant for another post, phone jumped it to yours??? But ready your post, isn’t their job to get the proof, they did this to me regarding my case and I was a victim of domestic violence so have no idea what my ex is up to hence why I forced to contact them in the first place, been a joke ever since. There is no clear answer on what you can do I’m afraid, try your mp or cab and see what advice they can give you. Best of luck x
Hi sorry to hear about your probs (both of you) if you join the facebook groups child support agencies failings and others too, there is useful advice and support, I also was a victim of my ex being self employed and lyng about his income etc. I managed to get an advanced payment and had approx. 9 special payments. Hope the facebook free advice helps.
Until the csa treat cases as individuals nothing is ever going to change, I’m a pwc and a nrpp, my ex gets let off yet my partner who is a good dad and supported his children gets punished even more by not assessing him correctly and making up their own sums, which is now leaving us destitute and when you question it they are slow in dealing with anything to the point it you have to get outside help.
I have had 12 years of hell as both a PWC and an NRP!
The facts are simple, we are all being embroiled into a system that is ‘not fit for purpose’ and is completely shambolic.
People over-paying, people under-paying, people not paying at all. It’s a shambles with incompetence beyond belief!
The European courts should intervene, shut it down, and order a re-think!
Think its bad when our own court system can’t intervene? And I completely agree with you, it is shambolic, and that’s y I closed my case and getting on with my life…I can’t be asked in chasing a man who really doesn’t give to stuffs about his kids, and in my opinion its not like I struggled being a single parent, I’m struggling more now being a nrpp because the csa won’t listen, they want money for kids who’s child benefit stopped ages ago, and its not just arrears they are after,they want 360.00 for an 18 year old til the end of next year whilst two dependents under 10 get nothing and he supported his kids unbeknown to him that the csa were ever involved in the first place…system is an ass, a forgotten about agency left to screw up peoples lives, no matter which side ur in, pwc or nrp
Perhaps get a job. The mother of my child left me 10 years ago. I couldn’t claim through the CSA why? guess. Im a man. Even though I have a residence order we are STILL considered to be the NRP. Only the mother is the PWC.
At the end of the day, don’t we children because we want a family life? You have that don’t you? Children aren’t juist about money!

Miles~ It is for parents to make financial arrangements for their children. They do not belong to civil servants OR politicians.
I have been embroiled in a flawed statutory scheme, which is not the best option for me! I have NEVER been given the opportunity to make financial arrangements for the children. I am being criminalised and persecuted by over-zealous, pen pushing amateurs, who couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery!
What is more, I want to make provide an inheritance for my children.That opportunity is being taken from me by these thieves, as I they continually botch up my case, and screw me with ‘made up’ arrears.
There is only two thing wrong with CSA/CMEC. Everything they say and everything that they do! It’s a shambles!
