Paying child support since the 1980s in the USA

Hello, I have been paying child support since the eighties.

My wife deserted me with the children- they are about 30 years old (two kids). I was fighting the case myself for a few years and no payments while doing that- the fine and interest grew. I am 57 years old now and they say I still owe about 30,000.

I am on unemployment now for about one years -laid off from a job of 10 years- they take 75 dollars out of each unemployment check- I am in Las Vegas and the case is from San Benito Co. Calif -I alos had issues with the presiding Judge at that time for not have a signed oath of office, but when they arrested me and use white-out to put my name on a false warrant- I figured I was out of my league.

I have a hard time believing I should still be paying…..my question is can you do something- they sent me a COAP form two weeks ago but I believe my unemployment will be running out and there is a possibility I’ll be work back at min wage.
