Is the computer always correct?

I Received a phonecall on the 7th January 2014 from a Case Offiecr in Belfast stating I owed the agency approx. £500 on a case that was started on the 7th Dec 2010. I was assured by this case officer, I had only paid approx. £8600 into the account, when they should have received approx. £9100. that is what ‘He’ had worked out and the computer agreed apparently !

My protests however, which fell on deaf arrogant ears, were completely irrelevant. I was told if i didn’t agree to pay this back I would be receiving a ‘warning’ letter. Needless to say, knowing full well, to the best of my knowledge from the letters I have received, I have always paid the C.S.A. whatever they have stated (with the exception of recent Months when I knowingly adjusted my Standing Order to receive back overpayments that were made because of a change in circumstances… The incompetence there, is another story !!) Having agreed to disagree, with the Case Officer neglecting to investigate my concerns, I am of course expecting a ‘warning’ letter shortly…whether this will provide concrete evidence, un-beknown to me, or be as abrupt and uncompromising as the Case Officer in question remains to be seen.

What I do know having visited my Bank and confirming with the ‘What I Need To Pay’ documents, is this… I have always paid what is required, which for your information comes to a figure of approx. £12600 !!

I could of course gripe much more about the agencies incompetence (assuming i’m proved right), but my point is, you don’t listen to your Clients and take a more personel approach instead of the ‘Blinkered’ view of assuming the Computer is correct… It’s only as good as the person inputting the details, which in my 14 year experience is seldom reliable !

And on a final note, I find the commucation via telephone totally unproffesional, with the important and sometimes delicate nature of this type of call, it would be much more appropriate in writing via the post and not, as in my case (even though I agreed to take the call) whilst at work, when i have to say my state of mind was affected for the remainder of the day… Not particularly good when you’re part of the Emergency Services !
