Is my life ruined?

I went out briefly with a Muslim who was never really interested in me (always turned away when I tried to kiss her etc.).and I found totally un compromising (i.e. categorically said she would never watch a DVD at home etc.) I tried to split up from her several times but she always convinced me not to, after a couple of months she said she was pregnant and didn’t give me an option of abortion so I tried to do the right thing and stand by her, even when through her Muslim marriage to help her with her family. However she became more Muslim (had issues with alcohol in the house even though she drank like a fish when we first dated).

It was obvious it would never work so I left while she still had the ability to abort the baby. She refused and I believe it was her intention all along, she was 35 years old and I seemed like her good bet. I always said I would pay half the child costs and continually said that I wanted to keep things amicable but she realised she could possibly get more money by involving CSA. She also wrote to my parents who she had never met but found their address on the internet. My mum in her eighties was distraught over the letter. She is now out to get as much money she can from me and make my life as difficult as possible.

I have never lived with her and I believe child maintenance should be based on the cost of the child and nothing to do with my income. This just encourages girls to get pregnant by wealthy people to get a meal ticket.

I have now just received the MEF form from the CSA and I am absolutely terrified after reading other peoples experience of the CSA, even suicides!!!. I don’t know if I’m legally obliged to respond, I work as an IT contractor with my own Limited company and want to find a way of paying towards the child but not having my finances ruined.
