I owe thousands because I didn’t even know CSA existed
If a NRP ‘willfully’ terminates his or her employment, the CSA (or Secretary of State) WILL COME AFTER YOU FOR WHAT YOU WERE EARNING BEFORE YOU LEFT EMPLOYMENT. And if you dont tell them you left or if you don’ tell them when you move, or if THEY have your address wrong THEY WILL FINE YOU 1000.
MY ex got a DOE at a job I had and that was alright with me, but she never told me she was doing it and I only knew what was appenign when 200 was going out of my account all of a sudden.
I changed jobs when I ironically moved to be closer to my daughter. I had no idea this was a crime in CSA’s book and I had no idea CSA even had rules, because I’d never heard from them, they obviously need my address for the DOE, because I was never notified. But I knew it was going to my ex so I was fine with it.
When I got a new job, I payed my ex directly and had no idea the CSA was able to charge such high fines for not letting them know ‘changes’.
I’d never received a letter from them until they told me I was 3600 in arrears! And 1000 of that was a fine for not telling them my address! I didn’t even know they existed until now!
I was charged 3600 by the CSA because I didn’t even know they existed and didn’t know their RULES and because I paid my ex directly and quit my job before being fired.
I left the job I took because it was sales based, I wasn’t making target and my manager basically said ‘if you don’t quit, we’ll fire you.’
Long story short, it took me ages to find another job, I worked cash in hand and did work in return for board, because I couldn’t afford a deposit and was homeless for a while. I didn’t sign on because I actually had no fixed address.
When I finally got a fixed address, months later, I got a bill from the CSA CHARGING ME FOR WHAT I WOULD HAVE OWED IF I HADN’T QUIT!
BE AWARE NRPS! IF YOU HAVE AN ATTACHMENT OF EARNINGS AND YOU “VOLUNTARILY” LEAVE YOUR JOB, THEY WILL COME AFTER YOU FOR WHATEVER YOU WERE MAKING!
And if you leave your job and go on jobseekers, they will keep charging you for what they say you OWE, even if you’re not in employment anymore!
The CSA have made people I know homeless, they have financially ruined people who didn’t ask for ‘permission’ to leave their jobs!
The Government has made up horribly draconian rules that PRESUME GUILT instead of PRESUMING INNOCENCE.
NRPs who fall on hard times (quit before they are fired, or have to leave work to care for a child) can’t afford legal representation, so we can’t protect ourselves from these bloodthirsty hounds!
NRPs be careful! DOE’s are incredibly dangerous and if you leave your job, CSA WILL CHARGE ARREARS EVERY MONTH for same amount they would charge you if you stayed.
It’s madness. Because I didn’t ask ‘permission’ from the CSA to leave my job and left ‘voluntarily’ (before I was fired) I was charged 3600. This kept me from finding stable accomodation, and my daughter had to see me living in squalor for months. It was humiliating.
They took so much out of my wages when I eventually found a good job that I was still living in sh*te for months.
I’ve tried to hide this from her and she asks questions ‘why do you live in these places, and why are you poor?’
My daughter has a safe life with her mum and new partner and I’m grateful for that, but she has to see her dad living in sh*t and it’s humiliating.
When will the laws change? THE LAWS MUST CHANGE! CHILD SUPPORT LAWS ARE DRACONIAN AND TREAT PARENTS LIKE CRIMINALS WHEN THEY FALL ON HARD TIMES OR PAY THE MUM DIRECTLY!
Talk to your MP, we have to get these laws changed, we have to sue the CSA for breach of human rights. I was fined for something I had no idea existed, presumed guilty, and had money forcibly taken off me and was threatened with jail if the funds weren’t available!
THE ONES BEING VICTIMIZED BY CSA AND CHILD SUPPORT LAWS ARE THE ONES TOO POOR TO GET REPRESENTATION!
