I had lost my home and my job, but CSA didn’t care

My problems first started in february 2012.Back then I had a mutual agreement with my ex K,in which I paid a little more than the online calculator suggested,my choice and no problem.My employer then had to cut my hours by 25% as had experienced the effects of economic decline.This is when I informed K,as I didn’t want to suddenly land her with a shortfall,regarding mortgage,bills,etc.K immediately informed the CSA and the nightmare began.

The CSA wanted my 6 months previous wage slips,of which were no use in my case,as I was just about to lose 25% of my earnings but they simply were not interested and certainly did not care.The contention and over payments carried on for 12 months,until at last I was paying what I should have been in the first place.The CSA by then owed me around £650 because of my over payments but would not pay me back in a lump sum but just knocked a few pounds off my future CSA payments,I was disgusted to say the least.In the first 2 months of the CSA getting involved,I had lost my home(my one big security betwween me and my sons) and had to find a new job.

In July 2013 my eldest came to live with me for 4 months.I knew this was coming so asked the CSA prior to this move,of what action to take.I was told by the CSA to inform themselves,Tax Credits and Child Benefit of said move(change in circumstance) of which I duly did so,K on the other hand did not.A month passed and nothing changed and my payments remained the same.I decided to cancel my Direct Debit.When K realised my money hadn’t reached her account,she complained to the CSA.

The CSA contacted me immediately with K’s complaint.I explained the situation but all the CSA wanted was for me to pay my so called arrears,of which I refused until the CSA acknowledged my claim against K.The CSA proceeded by taking my payments directly from my wages,yet again I was disgusted.

After numerous,fruitless attempts by myself to get any information about my claim,all I was getting back was their aggressive tactics of obtaining my arrears.

Now,whilst I did owe and was thoroughly open about my debt and always stated that I would pay every penny,I was reluctant to do so until the money owed to me was recognised.In all a minimum owing to me by K,is 15 weeks @ £26 each,totalling £390,doesn’t sound a lot but that almost covers my arrears with which I have been now threatened by Child Support Law.Over the past month I have been offered totals of £26,£52 and today £210,none of which has to be paid by K.

Since I have tried to claim and very slowly managed to grab at some pennies,K has tried to reduce my access to my youngest,just to up my future payments,much to the distress of both my sons and present partner and son.K kept my boy from coming for one day and the CSA charged me for a months worth,how can this possibly be.

All in all it seems crime does pay,aided and abetted by the CSA themselves.Child Support is exactly what they are not and should be ashamed of acting in such a blatant,negligent manner.2 years of hell and still going but reaching my wits end.
