I took my car to a workshop in Mussafah for some engine work and paid a hefty bill. Later, a friend who knows about cars looked at it and pointed out that some of the parts they claimed to have replaced looked original. I feel really naive and angry at myself for not being more careful. I have been reading up on protecting yourself from auto repair scams and learned some basic steps I should have taken. Things like asking for the old parts back, getting a written estimate before agreeing to anything, and even requesting photos of the work in progress. I also found out that reputable workshops will explain the problem clearly and offer different part options based on your budget. For others who are not car experts, what do you do to make sure you are not being taken advantage of? How do you find a mechanic you can actually trust?
