I’ve been car shopping for about a month now and I’ve noticed something interesting that I wanted to see if others have experienced. Every private seller I’ve dealt with, whether it was someone in Jumeirah or Mirdif or even Sharjah, has been completely fine with me getting the car inspected. A couple of them even seemed relieved that I wanted to do it, like they were happy I was taking it seriously. But the dealerships, especially the smaller ones in Ras Al Khor and Al Quoz, have been a completely different story. One guy told me they don’t allow outside inspections because they have their own “certified” mechanics who check all their cars. Another one said I could bring someone but only if it was after hours and I didn’t get in the way of their sales floor. A third dealer actually laughed when I mentioned an inspection and said if I was that worried maybe I should buy a new car instead. It’s made me much more comfortable buying from a private seller honestly, because at least they’re not trying to hide anything or control the process. I’m looking at a 2016 Nissan Patrol from a private seller in Arabian Ranches this weekend and I’ve already told him I’ll be arranging a Pre Purchase Car Inspection before we talk final price. He said no problem at all and even offered to have it ready on the driveway so the mechanic can work easily. That kind of openness makes me trust the whole transaction so much more. Has anyone else found that dealers are harder to work with on inspections or is it just the ones I’ve happened to visit?
