Ex stopped paying and now I am owed thousands
My Exhusband and I split in 1989 I was awarded Custody of our 3 children and at the time He was ordered to pay £45 per week maintenance which he did for a while then payment stopped. As a result an attachment of earnings was ordered by the courts payment started again but shortly after he gave up work left it a few months and then started work again everytime the courts caught up with him he would give up work again this pattern carried on throughout.
The CSA came into effect back in the 1990’s and things went from bad to worse He was ordered to pay £52 per week £47 maintenance + £5 arrears. I have had only a handful of payments since. When my youngest daughter finished education in 2008 the CSA informed me that my case was closed but payment would still continue because of his arrears.
By this time the money owed to my children was in the regin of £20.ooo+ The CSA Then informed me that they could only ask for back payment for a certain ammount of years bringing the total ammount of monies owed to £7.000 2 years on and I was still waiting for some kind of result but nothing happened.
I contacted the CSA I recieved a letter Feb 2009 telling me the courts had granted a liability order and my ex husband now only owed £3.619.13 and that bailiffs would be recovering the debt (another lost cause) in 2010 another letter arrived form the CSA saying a warrant was being issued and that was the last I heard.
My children, who are now grown up and have children themselves are still waiting in vain for the CSA to get thier finger out and regain the rightful ammount of money owed how much longer are they going to allow this person to slip through the net?
