Bullying techniques and wrong calculations

Hello,

Please can you help me!

I feel that the calculations made by the CSA, and their bullying techniques have been well underhand.

I speak on behalf of my partner who has three children with a previous partner.

Until march this year we had paid for extra curricular lessons, bought clothe and have the children to stay every weekend in what was a relatively amicable situation. Then she got the CSA involved, and they backdated the claim to last June, when my partner started working full time again.

We are happy to pay maitainence, but the calculations seem incredibly unfair, and I wonder if they are evn legal.

Abraham earns £60 per week, and from the CSA website, and this one, I understand that he would pay a flat rate of £5. He is also required to pay back the back dated claim, which surely they could ask no more than a further £5?

They have in fact demanded he pay £15 per week plus £9 for arrears, totally £24, almost half his income!

Please can you tell me if this is legal or not?

I am very grateful for your time.
