Why must I do the CSA’s legwork?

July 6, 2012

My Daughter mother seems to be lying about what my daughter is doing. Her current college course finished this month and i have learnt that she is now working, not sure if it is full time or part time. However the mother has told me via a text message that my daughter will be extending her college course for a further year.

I have since looked into this and the collage has told me the course she was on is only a 2 year course and the only course left would be a 1 year course which has no benefit and the course work would have been covered in her last 2 year course.

The csa have told me i have to speak to the dwp. Why do i have to do the leg work while still paying them?

My stepdaughter is 19 in October this year ,her Child Benefit to the PWC ends on September 3rd 2012.When child benefit ceases so does child maintenance. The ex wife thought her daughter would be doing college forever so she could keep getting money from us.I only found out about the CB ruling because my 16 year old son has just finished school and starts college on September 5th 2012 and the CB are paying me this money till September 4th 2013 ,where upon I will have to claim again if he continues for a 2nd year.

Don’t phone dwp but child benefit direct or the benefit fraud hotline with your information, we had the same issue and glad we made that phone call, it saved us 4000.00 this year, much to the pwcs dismay….serves her right thinking the kids stay kids forever and has to start fending for herself! Don’t let it drop, keep on at them
