There has to be help for those who pay but still get screwed over

October 25, 2013

My husband has a child with a ex who from day one he paid £200 a month to, when they broke up she was fine with the payment till she found out he had moved on with his life and contacted the CSA.

They told him to stop any payments to her which she then kicked off about, after dealing with them they then started to deduct £350 a month for one child and as he was in the military he had nothing he could do as it was attachment to earnings. , when he came out of the military last year they told him his payments would stay the same as he was in arrears, when asked how could he be they argued that the pay master general of her magestys armed forces may have deducted the money but they hadn’t always got it, so her magestys personel were thieves,!!!!

When ask for a copy of payments to them they refused. He now can only earn £857 a month then the next £260 goes to the CSA… As my husband works bank hours so not regular ones occasionaly some months he doesn’t pay the full amount, today his area manager has taken it upon herself to give the the CSA the extra £97 he earnt this month as she noticed he hadn’t paid in full the month before!!! Yes his own employer is on the CSA side!!!!!

I am of ill health but I have had to go back to work full time to support us as we do not have enough money to live off, he has paid for the child since day one, his ex now has another child but isn’t with the father of that one either. I have 3 children of my own that I had before we met and I would never treat my ex like this, through desperation after one phone call from them he said I may as well give up work,,,, the CSA reply well you bloody do that then and slammed the phone down on him These people are disgusting and there needs to be some help for those who DO pay but are being screwed over by them

It’s so depressing that these stories are so common and yet there appears to be nothing we can do about it. If this was a private organisation programmes like Dispatches would be all over it. I don’t know how they get away with it.

Make an appointment with your local M.P. Put pressure on your M.P. regarding your treatment, and also about the maladministration of your case.

The CSA are obviously ripping you off and telling you lies.

You need to ask for a full breakdown of your account. Ask for evidence of payments from the paymaster, In order to find out who is to blame. The CSA or the paymaster?

Get everything in writing as evidence, don’t contact them by phone. They tell you one thing on the phone and then deny saying it.

This may or may not help, but regarding the so called ‘missing payments’ I found out that the CSA have several accounts where they receive money and if the employer, in this case the pay master general does not give the right CSA reference number this money just sits there in limbo. I found that if you are lucky enough to speak to a CSA operator that has half a brain and a bit helpful they can log onto this system and find the missing money for you. It still takes a ridiculous 21 days before you get it but at least it is no longer lost and should reduce the arrears. Good luck with trying the number is 0845 0508488 then option 4 followed by option 1
