No direct debit set up

July 11, 2011

I recently had a review of my circumstances as I applied for a reduction due to having my children over 54 nights. At the same time I found that I was on standing order, rather than direct debit. The standing order period came to an end in December, so I paid the months outstanding by card and had a direct debit set up for May with revised schedule.

The May payment wasn’t taken and I received a default letter. I called immediately and was told that it was a clerical issue and that I was on standing order. The lady promised to call back and resolve the issue. I had no call back and so I called the next week to chase up and also to make a payment by card as I would be another month behind. The person dealing wouldn’t take the card payment but promised a call back. She didn’t call back but I got a message from the enforcement department 2 days later. I called and made a card payment for the missing month and asked about making an arrangement to repay the missed month.

They said they couldn’t put me on direct debit but had issued a deductions order to my employer anyway!

I work for a small company and do not want the stigma that goes along side such action. I logged a complaint and was contacted by someone who placed all the blame on me (if they don’t set up my DDM, it is my fault apparently and it is my fault that they didn’t call me back on 2 occasions when I’m trying to pay).

They also say I owe £330, which is from the old assessment, whereas the actual figure is more like £70 due to a card payment I made.

Like many dads out there, I’ve always paid my way and am disgusted by some of the attitudes of the CSA staff. My £24 a month deduction should cover the £40 petrol is costing me to collect them each weekend eh.

EVERYONE GET YOUR MP involved!! NO matter what.

Regardless send them a copy of every letter you send to the CSA. You’ll be amazed how many NRPs together we can get better, improved, group response. Don’t let the MP do nothng! Stand up and get the MP over worked with local CSA cases guaranteed to piss them off and force the issues directly with higher CSA bods..please pass this message on.

CSA will only take notice if an MP gets pissed off 😉

    Thanks
