My ex told the CSA that I hadn’t paid for a year – and they believed her!

March 19, 2013

For the first year after i split up from my wife, i paid child maintenance into her bank account, way in excess of what i was due to give her.

However, when i met my new wife, my ex wife told the csa i hadnt paid her for a year, even though i had receipts for the bank and posted the receipts to the csa they still made me pay a full years money over again, they took her regular payment plus so called arrears that i didnt owe, where is the justice, my son is now 17 goes to college 2 and a half days a week, my net pay is 123.00 and she gets 28.00 of this. so so unfair.

Yes,common problem they are on the pwc’s side all the time ! They did it to us,despite having all the proof, having to pay it all again (years more than your case)MP involved but it’s a slow old process & in the mean time we are struggling to manage.
Hope you get on better than we did with them.

They have to be fair to both parties and also stay unbiased on both sides, I would make a formal complaint and ask for these payments to be taken into consideration when doing this recalculation that they now must do, I always tell any NRP that makes payments, make sure you name the standing order or direct debit reference as CSA and the childs name, then there can be no discrepancy towards what the payment was for

Was your case set to Maintenance Direct for the period of time that you were making payments to the PWC’s bank account – if it was then the agency will not collect payments for that time. If not then the bank statements showing the payments to the PWC’s account should be considered, what was the reference for the transactions? Have the agency asked the PWC to confirm that these payments were for child maintenance and if so what has she replied?

When did the CSA first make contact with you?
