Can anyone help me fight the CSA?

August 21, 2010

Several years ago the CSA alleged I owed them £13,000 in arrears. After being lucky to have the Independent Case Examiner take on my case and order them to recalculate it was discovered they had calculated my salary ‘twice’ – a basic accountancy error. The result being they dropped the figure to £1,800 – a whopping £11,200 less!

Upon receiving the letter with the new figure I wrote back to the CSA accepting it and asked them how I was to pay now. However three month later, and after getting no reply they imposed a £4,000 ‘deferred debt’ saying they had not Read more

My life is back on track after CSA hell

August 21, 2010

As a joint, voluntary agreement I paid the mortgage on our former home approx £240/month after moving into rented (my ex-wife was a knife wielding psycho) along with £200/month to support our son. After 6 months my ex went to the CSA who took £400/month off me + the £240/month mortgage payment refusing to take the mortgage into account. I paid up on time every month till my son was 18. During the intervening period my ex enjoyed holidays in Spain whilst claiming benefits.

Now, thankfully it’s over and I have my life back on track and have a lovely girlfriend. The CSA are not interested in listening to anyone’s difficult circumstances. All they’re interested in is their ‘target’. I got my life back together but many dads don’t. Despite all the cash I had to part with my ex now has mortgage arrears and CCJs. Little comfort given the hell I went through.

Shut the CSA down and start again for God’s sake.

I need CSA avice about reducing my payments

August 20, 2010

Hi, I have just received a letter from the csa about my arrears a total of £3000. In the letter it states that I have to pay 1 payment of £583.97 on the 1st Sept 2010 & a further 7 payments of £554.13 per month. It then reduces to £368.01 & eventually £175.18 (the payment that I would normally have to pay each month without arrears).

I have tried to receive help from a few Solicitors but they are unable to take the case on because they are not given funding for such a case. I haven’t got a clue what is going to happen to My financial circumstances as I can’t afford to pay the above payments. Can anyone suggest any group to help me out ?

I remarried over two years ago & had to provide for My Stepdaughters. The csa owe me money & still after two years they haven’t sorted this out. I was supposed to have my payments reduced by 15% but this never happened. All they are bothered about is ruining Fathers’ lives. If I have the payments taken straight from my wages then unfortunately I will be forced to pack in my Job as (funny as it sounds).

I will not be able to afford going to work! Can anyone help (please) ?

CSA said I am an easy target because I pay

August 20, 2010

I have been happily divorced from my ex for 13 years. I have 2 Teenage sons who i love more than life itself and i have continued to maintain a happy relationship with them.

My ex wife decided after we split to contact the CSA after us failing to agree a monthly figure, she was demanding £500 a month in 1997. The CSA over the years have taken various amounts from me which up until 3 years ago were manageable and allowed me to move on with my life as she had with hers. in 2007 i started working for the government and as a result my payments doubled from £200 a month to £400 a month, and i still get regular re assesment requests from the CSA. As soon as i start to get ahead they hit me again, i have been told i am an easy target cos i pay.

My sons have recently stated that their mother never gives them money or purchases new clothes for them, my youngest recently asked his mother for new school shoes only to be told, “i cant afford it” then not 30 minutes later a 50 inch flat screen tv was Read more

Fathers that care and pay are a problem to the CSA

August 19, 2010

I separated from my son’s mother in 2003 (my son will be ten this year) Since the day she left I always had shared care and paid her via a direct acgreement by cheque or standing order. I informed the CSA in 2003 of this and at the time I was actually paying more than they advised me to, so I have had no contact with the CSA since June 2003. Then in March 2010 I had a call from CSA checking my case and then expained that that everything was still the same that I pay every month and share care for my son, the lady advised me that my ex partner was actally better of keeping to the direct agreement.

Then in June 2010 I had a very nasty and agressive lady from the CSA phone me demanding that I pay £1000 payment and then hundreds every month for the next 5 years over the phone and if I don’t then they will deduct it from my wages or Read more

CSA issues from the Philippines

August 19, 2010

I would like to ask some advices from you regarding me and my son’s situation. I got pregnant and the guy did not take his responsibility to me and now I was trying to fight for my son’s right to acknowledge him as his son. Can I sue him even if we are not married? I also went to Public Attorney’s Office to file a case against him but I have done nothing because of lack of proof. And I was hoping that DNA test would be the better proof, sadly it is very expensive to process and I he wont give me sample of his specimen.

What should I do? My son is only 6 months old and I had already take hard some insults words from the family of the man. They are influenced family and I heard that the guy will getting married from other girl. Child Support Case only I was trying to fight. For my son I will do anything for him.

I am here in Cotabato Philippines and I am Maricel Cuevas, 26 years old; Part time cashier in Net Café, I earned 60 pesos a day and it is not enough to raise my son with this daily income. On the meantime, my son is sick. I hope you can help me. Thank you so much.

My case is ‘broken’ says CSA manager

August 18, 2010

After just having a 20 minute debate with a CSA manager, I am still not 100% clear what it is they actually do there. Probably along with all the hundreds/thousands of parents out there who have an ongoing case issue with them.

I have just been told that because my case is ‘broken’ and can NEVER be fixed?! I will constantly have to call them to remind them of money outstanding…. Even if it has been sitting in their systems for weeks? I quote “It’s your case, Miss. We can’t monitor late payments as we don’t have the staff, so I suggest you need to call us every month to remind us to chase any outstanding payment”.

So, because I am now looking after my own case, does that mean I can class myself as ‘self-employed’ and I can send them an invoice for all the leg work I have done for them?!

What a joke!
Oomph!

‘Shambles’ CSA admits another mistake

August 18, 2010

I have had contact with the CSA as a PWC and an NRP. I have been treated differently on both counts. My ex went to the CSA when I turned down her over zealous demand for far too much money from me. I paid Child support from day one. I counter claimed and she was ‘let off’ her responsibility for the child living with me for two years. One rule for me, different rules for her, but thats the shambolic CSA! Over ten years I have had to complain persisitently and in 2005, a report concluded that the CSA had made 15 mistakes with my case 5 of which were serious bordering on criminal. It gets better, in 2009 I informed them that a child was out of the system aged 19. They wrote to me stating that THEY had made a mistake with my case and that I owed £7000 in arrears.

I believe this to be a blatant lie to scr-w more money out of me to earn staff bonuses! The CSA then dumped a DEO on my income. They are a total shambles and a disgrace! I appealed to a tribunal and the ajudicator was a ‘planted’ solicitor employed by and acting for Read more

Are letters from the CSA legally binding?

August 17, 2010

Can anybody tell me if the CSA letters are legally binding. My partner has been paying for his kids since he split up with his ex wife, all arrears have been paid when they said they were owed. We have a letter dated Nov 2008 saying he owes nothing from the past, In April they he says he has £5000.00 arrears, but won’t tell us where they come from. They won’t listen to us even though we have sent copies of these letters. He is on a DOE and would have been not paying for years to get that amount of arrears. CSA are a joke.

Here’s the biggest joke, his ex owes over £2000.00 for the child that lives with us. She has been working over two years and hasn’t paid a penny and now she is appealing on her arrears.

Child left college but CSA still want me to pay

August 17, 2010

My son moved out at 171/2 to live with his mother.

Next thing I get a letter through the door saying my son is attending college and I would have to pay child support. I pay child suppport and then in May I find out he is not attending college and has quit. I informed the CSA of this and they said they cannot take my word for it. They also said the mother is recieving child benefit so you still have to pay.

My son son left college in march time why am I still paying? And why wont they investigate to find out if child benefit fraud is taking place? Am I mistaking the guidelines as stated on their website “over 18 and in full time education and also the parent is receiving child benefit

They did query the mother and she has replied my son has reapplied to college to start in September (he is 19 on the 29th of October). The reply I keep getting from the CSA is “well you stop paying in October” and “she still receives child benefit

These people dont know their own rules
