CSA refuses to listen to what I tell them

August 26, 2012

My daughter started working 30 months ago yet CSA still keep taking payments from me, this is due to her mother fraudulently claiming Child Benefit and other related benefits. I have repeatedly told CSA yet they are unwilling to listen saying they take there information from the DWP and if a parent rightly or wrongly is claiming benefits it allows them to continue to take monies direct from my wage. Mr daughter is in a full time paid apprenticeship and was on day release to a training course but she is working not in full time education.

I have repeatedly told CSA yet there own rules are in reverse to how they treat me with my other children which i had a claim for has parent in care, when my son started working they stopped collecting contributions from there mother due to my honesty and being unwilling to claim what i was not entitled to.

They (the CSA) talk to you like something they have stepped on, they are unable to differentiate between the fathers with or without care, and also the fathers they have to chase that are unwilling easily to pay and those that pay without issue.

They need to learn how to speak to people with respect, and they keep claiming not to have a complaints procedure and are unwilling to accept all the information and proof that i have, saying if the parent with care is found to be committing fraud they will pay back what they have taken but only if the DWP inform them, they don’t do investigations themselves.

It is disheartening and has previously taken me to financial despair and previously attempting suicide because i could not see an end to the financial struggle it was leaving me in.

Have you reported the benefit fraud to HMRC? They would investigate further which may eventually put a stop to this for you.

Child benefit can still be claimed while a younster is on an apprenticeship. This was the information i was given by the Child benefit office when i enquired about 2 years ago, but it depends what kind of apprenticeship the youngster is on. I think they is someinformation on this on the Direct.gov website.

HMRC were unwilling to investigate due to me not having the mothers DOB or National Ins number or new address, I supplied all my daughters details but they said the details had to be the claimant not the person being claimed for.

She is on a paid full time apprenticeship which does not qualify for child benefit, but thanks for thinking of that and taking the time to reply
