Where did these arrears come from?

September 29, 2010

3 weeks ago the csa started to take out of my weekly wage £61?

Rather shocked at this as i have been duly exempt from paying csa due to the amount of access time i had with my children, puzzeld at this and completly unaware as had no contact from csa whats ever…when quried this with the csa they said my ex wife had put in a claim for my youngest daughter whom may i add no longer lives at home and is 22 next birthday, and hasnt lived at home for a whole year now.

Puzzeled greatly at this thinking my case was now closed csa said that she has claimed for 2 years of my daughter’s life from when she was 16 or so?? Still puzzled, I asked the csa why wasnt i informed of this so i could let them know of my financial situation at the time of the claim ?? The CSA promply say they sent me a letter to an address where i havn’t lived for 15yrs!! – saying my ex says she didnt know my address where she has dropped and collected my girls from over the last 10 years, and now because i obviously havnt responded to due to not rec any letter, this case and asses it fairly they are not interested.

Where can i go from here without having to pay expensive solicictors fees… Would be grateful where i can go with this.. feel am being unfairly treated can you please help?

Don’t mind paying csa if found justifyable at the point of the claim?? …seems strange that the csa knew where i worked to take the money, pity they didn’t take time to find out where i lived to send the eliged letter…

Look likes the panic is setting in at the CSA with austerity cuts and £4 billion uncollected, so they are doing as they usually do, targeting the weak and vulnerable in order to make it look like the CSA are a worthy cause and don’t deserve to be shut down! Wrong! …The CSA are on a list of 117 quangos being reviewed for closure, by the Coalition. Fingers crossed, as we all know they are a ‘shambles’!

You can try the Independent Case Examiners Office. You could ask your M.P. to raise it with them. You could write to the Office of Deputy Prime Minister. In any case you should complain as they makes things up as they go along to target people for their own bonuses! P.S. Don’t believe anything they say!

I ve read that also John! apparently all the lib dems want it scrapped and the inland revenue to deal with it but if thats the case i truely hope that its abolished immediately and not phased over like what is happening now or else it wil still be a nightmare for everybody stuck in it.

Rach. I have been at this for eleven years. The last government and all of their DWP Ministers ignored the plight of ALL parents involved with the CSA, whether paying or receiveing monies. I believe Charles Parnell walked away fron the DWP and politics, becasue of the CSA shambles! Yvette Cooper was the latest shrinking violet, who was anti men and pro women on benefits!

Without repeating myself. It is for parents to make provision for their children and not Executives and Office workers dictating to parents telling them what they must do and how they must do it! Who do this lot think that they are?

The CSA has more recently cost me contact with my son, because they dumped £6500 worth of debt on to me. I had just re-established contact with him after 5 years. I told him that I would not be seeing him and for him to speak to the CSA and his mother.. He is 19. As it stands he will not receive any inheritance from me until this debacle is shut down and my money repaid!

I am not proud of what I have done, but unless someone somewhere makes a stand and says enough is enough, we will never rid society of this inherently corrupt shambles….and safe haven for thousands of civil servants/office workers who seek to target the vulnerable and take pleasure from wreaking havoc with peoples’ lives, whilst securing their ‘jobs for life’!

Under the last Governent all politicians were in this together. My own M.P. who is voted in under the ‘Represenation of the Peoples ac’t now will not see me. How is this democratic?

They don’t like the truth. They don’t like it when you ‘shoot from the hip’ with words and they don’t like it when a reasonably intelligent person persistently challenges them and their methods.

Like you I sincerely hope that they are shut down. I also believe that there may be cause for a multi legal challenge, for those who have suffered discrimination and theft at the hands of the CSA, and that compensation must be paid were due.

It cannot be right morally or ethically that £4 billion pounds is uncollected and that thousands of people have not paid, were others have been repeatedly targeted.

May I suggest that you write to the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and voice your opinion. I have. I will also continue to challenge this lot until they are disbanded!

    Good Luck!

Andrew you need to send proof to the csa that you werent living at that address and remind them that they need to send correspondence to a “confident” address which they obviously have not done!. also i take it you havent signed an MEF form and if that is the case they have no authority over you. First thing to do is ask for the signed copy of an MEF form

john i have written to David cameron already but i will now also write to clegg

  • Martin Jock Laird says:

Its because they are crap and don't care about what they do I haven't had access to my daughter for over 4 years. And still pay over 100 pound a week and have paid over. 35000 in the last 30years

  • Lee Mullan says:

how can you be exempt from paying for your kids i thought you had to pay for them

  • Lorraine Moore says:

You have answered your own question really. Child support is supposed to be payable regardless of how much contact you have. Did you have 50/50 shared care? if so then support is still payable, I'm afraid. It's a shame your ex had to involve the CSA rather than discuss it with you directly, which should have been possible considering your contact arrangements. Yes, the CSA should have been more competent, however this is a common flaw..but your situation could have been avoided.

  • Shaban Afzal says:

Martin you need to do something about this, go and se a lawyer, what have you been doing all this time?

  • Garry Clarkson says:

Its still payable if you are a RESIDENT Parent (i.e. father) not if your a resident mother though. Makes a bit of a mokery of the (so-called) 'Gender pay gap' doesn't it? I would like someone to show me the evidence that this is not so, that its not like Nazism. I have yet to be convinced so making plans to hide in the cellar before the storm troops come to execute me.

  • Neil says:

Good luck with that one mate, The CSA say I have arrears, they cant tell me how much they are, how they have come about, or when they would be paid off, the letter just leaves the payments as ongoing and because the case was closed in 2005 by them they will not discuss rectifying the problem…… My 2 daughters are 23 and 21 and have been in full time employment since they were 16.

  • John says:

How can anybody ‘move on with their life’, when you have these ghouls looking over your shoulder all of the time?

Neil. Complain, complain, complain and complain again, to everybody. Ministers, your M.P. Clegg and Cameron. They cannot just invent arrears. They need proof. However, they WERE answerable to nobody, now Duncan Smith is responsible. Get onto him! Good luck.
