The CSA gave me a load of lies to fob me off
Since my last message, I was informed by my MP’s team that the CSA had wrongly blocked payments to me, because of another case /arrears. My nephews Mother sends clothes for birthdays and Christmas which exempts her from payments. I was told that my nephews father had not paid when clearly he had. I was also told that the CSA reset the date for payments to start . exempting payments continually. I was told a load of lies to fob me off….. I am releived to say that my MP ‘s staff beleived me and sorted it out.
I know so many go thro similar experiences it has taken almost a year to sort out. I have also been assured that my nephews entitlements will continue until 2014 when he finishes his BTEC course. I hope they mean it as I have to reapply for tax credits in June. I hope my experience shows others that they should never give up…My nephew is worth the fight. I am not a state scrounger and so glad it is sorted out.I can get back to caring for my 88 yr old mum without so much worry.

Do the Government realise that the ‘rules ‘of the CSA are so complicated that even the staff that work FOR them don’t understand them?Resulting in inconsistent interpretation of the CSA laws & legislation !I don’t think they have enough training before being thrust into the job ..there are lots of considerations to be made, a lot of emotions that come out over the phone from nrp’s desperate to see & pay for their children at an amount they can afford. The CSA is driving people to desperation ….. why do we have to get our MP’s involved to get things sorted out ?
@ Carrie…. I don’t think the government care as long as they can justify the existence of the CSA and keep the idiots who work for it from claiming unemployment benefit..
I keep hearing about child support act 1991 and the CSA Legislation (child maintenance and ther payments 2008) produced to support it but the fact of the matter is that it is NEVER about the child, it’s ALWAYS about government targets and bonuses for the CSA staff…. if it were about the child then parents would be requested to prove that the money was being spent on the child and should be forced to produce receipts on a monthly basis….
The CSA should be held fully accountable for ALL the PWC’s it lets down and all the NRP’s it intentionally stitches up to reach government targets…. THEY should be charged with fraud and defamation of character.
The sheer fact that the CSA have not informed NRP’s of the increase in child maintenance age from 19 to 20 guarantees hundreds of thousands of NRP’s will be classed as ‘non-compliant’ because they stopped paying…. this will result in arrears and the NRP and guarantees a bonus for the CSA member of staff….
What bothers me in all of this is that we have CSA staff who come on to this website who are very knowledgeable of the CSA legislation but intentionally feed innocent victims ‘limited’ information that could scare them into making wrong decisions… these are the dangerous ones… they know how to abuse the legislation to their own benefit (to ensure they get their bonus) without any regard to the child or the parents…..
People are still on Csa 1 this is over 10 years since it changed over to Csa 2 but the Csa managed to change the qualifying age for 19 to 20 in a day why , and why do people have to get there MP involved to sort out any Csa problems this can’t be the way forward , I was at first embarrassed to get my MP involved but my advice to anyone having problems with the Csa is get your MP on board as soon as any problem arises and if its a Tory MP so much the better !
@ Macon – apparently everyone will be changed over to CSA 3 by 2017 (I read this on the NACSA website) but knowing the CSA they will find a way to delay this…
I would like to think that the level of complaints our MPs get about the CSA are registered somewhere but the pesimist in me believes that only a small % will reported as it would mean the government would have to admit that the CSA is not fit for purpose…. and that will NEVER happen….
The reason Csa 3 will get phased in faster than Csa 2 is because 80 % of NRP will pay more money than those on Csa 2 ,when will the goverment realise no matter what system they bring out uses the same useless staff on there 0845 call center nothing will change and the children will still be starved of a father who struggles to keep a roof over his head, can’t treat his kids because the Csa strip him off all his money .
He/she then has two homes to keep and the Csa monster on his back until they decide when to stop the inhumane game they play !
People are kept on CSA1, myself included as we pay more maintenance than if we were on CSA2. I’ve no doubt the CSA will want more money from CSA1 victims when we move onto CSA3.
