Still paying for three kids when they are not all in education

April 12, 2012

Partner has always paid for his 3 kids, all in their late teens, £55k to date. We meet 3 years ago and after 18 months he moved in with me. Although his ex wife (ex for 14 years) had been happy with the amount he was paying as soon as she heard about me she went to the CSA to try & get more money.Had various figures with an average of an extra £90 a week more than he was paying before although his housing costs were the same as when he lived alone.

Turns out they had not awarded him housing costs, They are currently deducting 40% of his wages for mythical arrears, we have been fighting this for the past 18 months and it is incredibly stressful. His ex enrolled the middle child on a college course, his daughter dropped out after a couple of months and began working but the ex kept quiet and still claimed for her & also child benefit (Benefit fraud) we have advised the CSA about this but they are not interested. I have written to my MP & even written to David Cameron but my letter was passed to the CSA as he didn’t know enough about it to help us!!

Meanwhile they continue to take 40% of partners wage, phone calls, letters go unanswered,my partner had a home visit in December 2011, the agent seemed very helpful but we haven’t heard from her since. We went to a tribunal last week in Coventry, the CSA representative turned up late with no paperwork for the case and the case got adjourned – the judge was not impressed.

I used to think the “Fathers for Justice” were nutters now I know that they do what they do because that is the only way they get heard, solicitors, the media & MP’s don’t want to know, the CSA is a political hot potato. The CSA should make mothers prove what they are telling them instead of accepting everything they say as gospel, there are too many mother’s playing the system and using their children against their ex partners.

Omg your case mirrors ours, my advice is contact child benefit asap and the benefit fraud help line, we did and it saved us thousands, yet we are still treated like the criminals. Never ring csa, complain in writing and emails. Also see you mp again telling them that you have informed child benefit fraud and want a reassessment immediately. Be just as crafty as the rest of them, system stinks.
