please all join the facebook groups (child support agencies failings and others) for free advice and support from other who have gone through similar probs too, like me! Hopefully will help as I have been campaigning for years to get this 'system' changed and will continue even though my case has been 'closed' because I want justice.

After my ex husband tellin me he would stop payin child support when our son was 16 I was advised to report this to the CSA early, before he turned 16. I did this as we had previously arranged the money between ourselves. They looked into this and as he is self employed they needed his books which were not supplied so they worked out the payments on the national average which was £20 less than our agreement. That meant I got £200 a month. After 5 mnths the CSA now have his accounts and surprise surprise he hardly earns any money! So I am now entitled to £10 a week and owe them back pay which means I will finally pay the money I owe him back by the time my son is 18 so in effect I or we get nothing. He has a thriving business, numerous vehicles, very nice house, wife who does not work and stepson but he earns no money!!! He has a few sideline that help hm earn his cash and yes I will be in touch with HM customs about tax evasion. There will be justice. My son who is working very hard at school has got himself a job to help us out, doesn,t now want tp see his dad. Think somehow I am richer.

It is a disgrace, i have chased csa since 2005 for payments and still not a thing. They say that because my ex is self employed its hard for them to get money off fathers in this catagory. He owns a buisness.
I have to deal with my ex going away on about 4 hols a yr with his wife and his other 2 kids, while my 2 boys miss out.
This should not be allowed, it was best when the courts used to deal with it.

How I agree with the letter regarding self-employed fathers. My daughter who seperated from her partner June 2009 has received 3 x payments of child maintenance for her son and nothing from November 2009. She contacted the CSA who began proceedings. Her ex-partner did not co-operate with the CSA until an interim amount of £113.00 per week was forwarded to him - then he acted.
He is self-employed and declared his earnings were approx £114.00 per week and his maintenance was assessed at £6.86 per week. He is living in a large detached bungalow runs 2 x vehicles how I wish I had his life style on £114.00 per week!
This is all because he is self-employed and a director of a limited company and in the accounts he claims his directors pay is the aforementioned £114.00 per week.
What happens to the rest of the money from the company.
It beggars belief that nothing else can be done - all this is legal and above board. The CSA have been very good with my daughter but at the end of the day £6.86 per week is pathetic it doesn't even buy half my grandsons weekly food!
Good job she has good parents.
