My advice on dealing with the CSA

April 7, 2011

I’ve been dealing with the CSA now for quite a number of years. My partner has had enormous problems with them dealing with the case for his two daughters and I have had to deal with them both as a claimant for my two children and as someone that pays for my son who lives with his father. It is NEVER straightforward and you will ALWAYS get fobbed off. The stories are ALWAYS the same and you will get passed from pillar to post.

My advice is as follows:

  1. Back every phonecall you have with them up in writing – send it to the relavant office RECORDED DELIVERY.
  2. Start a log of every phonecall, letter or any correspondence you have with them.
  3. WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MP – your MP is there to assist his/her constituents in matters exactly like this. My partner wrangled with the CSA for 2 years, after writing to his local MP – Charles Hendry – the case was sorted within 8 weeks. The CSA soon jump into action when an official complaint is received from a member of parliament.
  4. NEVER GIVE UP – don’t let them fob you off – don’t let it get you down. Keep on and on and on at them. This excuse for an organisation RELY on the fact that most people will get so fed up they’ll go away.

DITTO also involve the Criminal Compliance unit (CSA) if you can and ICE Independent Case Examiner

Do not speak on the phone they try to engage you in a contract, ask for everything to be in writing they do not like this.
I have just had about four phone calls from them if you give them the details they want which is your NI name etc then you are in contract, just say stop harrassing me by phone and please write to me with your requests. Guess what still waiting for that letter.
