I’m scared to tell the CSA about my new job
July 10, 2014
Hello people, i have been on csa 1 paying for my daughter who is now 16 and a half , i have recentley started a job abroad, working for a canadian company in africa, the company has no ties to the uk and i get paid net pay direct from canada, any tax issues are dealt with by the company. i get paid net.
the question is am i out of jurisdiction?
i have been paying over 80 uk pounds per week for years and to be honest i am scared to tell the csa about the new job.
i cannot set up a private pament, because the ex has heard about the job and is wanting more!
to add, we were never in a relationship, it was “one of those things”-i know it takes two and i have been paying for years, but i just dont trust the csa, at the moment i have just told them i am on a career break from my uk job(which i am).
my wife is on maternity, and is going back to work soon and i will inform the csa of this.
but as for the work abroad i am just too worried to tel them.
by the way i work away for 2 months and home for 1. so i spend 8 months abroad.
to add, i am currently paying nothing because of my career break.
any help would be appreciated.
No doubt as your job is abroad the csa cant touch you does your daugther live in the uk?
Most companies have a reciprocal agreement with the UK with regard to child Suport. Do what you need to protect yourself but you will have to face the csa unless you want to be deported.
Companies was countries. Damned autocorrect.
I take it you now earn more. One suggestion. simply send them the money you had been paying? at least you wont get bit by a massive arrears bill and they may leave you alone?
You don’t have to anything to the casa now as you live abroad. You only pay if your employer is a uk company abroad. Hope this helps.
dont say out, just keep paying
or just say u not working, they cant catch u. just give daughter some cash direct!
don’t be scared to tell them as you are working for a foreign employer now you will be out of their jurisdiction write them a letter explaining that you are now moving abroad with your work and give them your employers address as you are csa 1 the case should be closed
also someone has mentioned about REMO . the csa do not try the REMO route that has to be started by the pwc and if she hasn’t got an address in Africa for you then it will be impossible for her to get child support through REMO 🙂
If you are still a resident in the UK you are still liable.
If you are permanently living abroad then you are out of the CSA’s jurisdiction.
I assume that your pay is not in £’s Stirling as it is a Canadian company? In which case you should inform the CSA of this as this then becomes outside of their jurisdiction and your assessment should be £0 even if you have a home in the UK. REMO will not come into it, the CSA ruling clearly states that the NRP income has to be in £’s Stirling.
If you were to move abroad then REMO could be an option for the PWC.
