July 14, 2016

I’ve had a letter from the csm saying I owe the government and my ex just under £9000 ,this cant be right as ive always paid money direct to my ex ,I used to trust my ex so didn’t get receipts(stupid I know).the only proof ive got is my kids used to collect the money every month and they would back me 100% I don’t trust my ex now because I think she thinks she could get some money!!!! any ideas what I can do please.

Set up a standing order. Mark the order as Maintenance. That way there is an audit trail of exactly what you paid. I have done this for 10 years.

i am sorry but unless you have receipts they wont listen to you and they wont take the childrens statements, if they ask her and she says you didnt pay they wont listen to you and because it was cash in hand. ask them for a full breakdown of your account a full audit, they can only charge you from the day your ex called them to make a case against you.
this will tell you the date and how much is charge and how much is due
you will need to appeal that decison through the appeals procedure, try get statement from the kids and your ex if possible, but im assuming she wont because if some of the money is owed to the state she will owe them!
i have been fighting the csa for a few years for my husband and have on every time.
send everything recorded signed for keep a good log of all calls time date and name of person you spoke to.
#appeal the decison if they dont listen you can go to stage one complaints then stage two if its not sorted then to the independent case examiners.
its a long process and they do make alot of mistakes check all audits against eachother
i hope this helped good luck
