I lied to the CSA about father of my child

December 7, 2009

I am a single parent on income support with an 8 yr old son, when my son was born i told the csa/income support that i had a one night stand and didnt really know the dad, and gave a made up name, I did this as at the time i didnt agree with the csa and my sons dad was on the dole and i was worried. i also didnt put his name dwn on the birth certificate.

a few months after my son was born his dad stopped coming to see him and we lost contact, last october my son asked me to find his dad and i did, his dad see him sometimes but to be honest dont bother much. his dad is working full time now and is on bout 900 a month.

i recently came out of a refuge and am struggling with money i find it difficult, i have never had any money off my sons dad and dont like to ask, but recently i did ask him to start paying regular money but he refused, now i want to go to the csa as i have no choice but am worried incase i get into trouble for lieing in the first place, but i have bought my son up on my own for 8 yrs with no help and i really need help now, have you got any advice please

thank you
