How much would I pay through the Child Support Agency?
May 24, 2012
It’s not a story more a query, I’ve currently got a 11 week old baby girl, i’m paying £200 a month towards her directly to her mother. Was wondering what i’d be paying monthly if I was going to take it through the CSA, just incase we was to have a major break up and she gets the CSA involved throwing me a large bill saying I’m not paying?
She currently lives with her mother with 3 kid/teens including my daughter, also what % would you be taking from the payments? I pick up after tax/ni etc is 1100.
Thanks for your time.

15% from net salary. its on the CSA web site. DO NOT USE THE CSA, you will both lose out., and make sure that all payments to her are recorded and signed for. they/she will dispute these at their leisure, and put you in arrears. If you can avoid the CSA you will both be better off. If she calls them in, you are better off unemployed.
Go to the CSA calculator site and it will tell you. If you both have one child together then it’s 15% of your net salary as Karl has said.
That will change when the new system comes in again as they will take a % of your gross salary.
Like Karl says avoid the CSA at all costs. pwc have applied for maintenance and have to fight for it. Takes the CSA an age to do anything and before you know it arrears have accrued due to their incompetence and then they want to take 40% of your salary.
Make sure you are paying your ex by cheque or internet banking so you have proof of payments. DO NOT PAY CASH – so many nrp’s have done this and then if the ex does not like what it going on in your life they go to the CSA and you end up paying twice.
Well said Carol…..
15% of your net pay for one child which would work out £165 a month. I totally agree with everyone above please dont go to the csa they will cause YOU so much despair try and keep to your private agreement its so much easier and yes definitely mark your payments as child maintenance via standing order so there is no come back
