My x wife informed me over 15 years ago that our son was not mine. I left her and we agreed because of that fact that no child care payment would need to be paid by me to her.

I have had no further contact with x wife or son since

Yesterday, however I received a letter from the CSA. The son is now just under 17 yrs and he has fallen out with his mum he is now living with a woman who has no family connection and it is this woman who has contacted the CSA asking for maintenance payments.

Now I only have my x wife's account if the child is mine or not but I think it strange that if the child were mine that I have had no contact with either before now.

Firstly if this woman has contacted the CSA, this makes me think that my x wife did not tell my son that I am not the father and if a DNA were to be carried out then this is going to be a shock for him. If I am the father then they will backdate my paments to this woman.

Secondly I am unsure if my son is still in education

and thirdly and most importantly can this stranger make a claim on my finances, which are very tight currently.

    Thank you for reading

  2. Yes the stranger can claim against the father and mother if the stranger is the person with care of the child. You need very quickly to deny paternity and push that. Ensure all correspondence is in writing and by recorded delivery.
